POPSUGAR Must Have: October Box + Giveaway

I've been really enjoying the POPSUGAR Must Have Boxes, if you couldn't tell. I mean, I've been talking about them for months now. POPSUGAR has been nice enough to send me them in exchange for review on the blog, and I've been more than grateful.

It's really nice to get this little box of goodness, that has a theme and great full size products, every month. I've been a subscription box lover for years now and it's so cool to get a present to yourself, from yourself, every month.

The boxes are filled with full size products, everything from food to beauty to lifestyle and fashion. They're things that you wouldn't normally buy yourself, but are always good to have. Some are really useful, some are just fun, and some are pointless but either way, the value of the boxes compared to the price is 100% worth it.

That's why, when I saw the first sneak peek of the October Must Have, a Henri Bendel umbrella, I immediately subscribed for the October Box. I needed this umbrella. I always buy cheap umbrellas that break as soon as it starts raining, but also I've been obsessed with Henri Bendel lately (more on that later), so everything else is just an added bonus.

I obsessively checked for spoilers of the October box because I can't stand not knowing what I'm getting so when I finally did see spoilers, I was super excited.

I think I was most excited for.... well everything. Obviously the umbrella but everything else goes perfectly with the theme: cozy, ready for fall, and sweet. I've already used the mug (using it for my morning coffee as I write this), and I bet the hot chocolate tastes so sweet & great for a cool, fall night.



The shower oil smells like a vanilla candle but doesn't leave too harsh of a scent behind, and even though the Makeup Eraser is a mini (I have the large one), this is great for travel.

The total value of the box is $119, but that doesn't include the eyeliner & book, because those were thrown in as "extras". With those two items, the value kicks up to $153. How awesome is that?

I went to a POPSUGAR book release party last month for Lisa Sugar's Power Your Happy, so I already have the book. I knew when I subscribed to this box that I was going to get a 2nd copy, and instead of having it collect dust on my shelf, I thought I'd give it away to one of my readers!

I'm in the middle of the book and it's really great. It's well written, there are great illustrations throughout the book, and it's just the perfect "self help/guidance" book that I know a lot of you enjoy.

June: PopSugar Must Have Box

This product was sent to me in exchange for a review but all opinions are my own.

I've been out of the subscription game for a while; I stopped my Birchbox subscription a while ago, I don't receive any food boxes anymore. I am receiving the Sephora Play box (post coming soon) but I'm unsure if it's worth it.

As much as I love getting a present delivered to my door every month, I just don't have the budget and sometimes getting too much every month makes me feel overwhelmed.

Also, everyone has a subscription box now and the market is very saturated -- how can you possibly just choose one to receive?

The ONE box that I do love and recommend if you're in the market for a new subscription service is PopSugar Must Have. I just think the value always beats everyone else & the price is a medium mix: $39.99 per month and usually the box is valued at AT LEAST $100, if not more.

I've partnered with PopSugar in the past & they've sent me boxes for review, and we're back at it again. I was so excited to receive the June box, I always feel like the summer boxes are exciting at PopSugar.

Side note: If $39.99 a month is too much for you, PopSugar just recently released their mini subscription box for around $18 a month. You get 2 items and the box is valued at around $50. I subscribed to this the first month it was offered and I received a candle & a Farmacy Lip Bloom. I was pretty happy with it but quickly canceled because it's just not in my budget. Once I get on track, I probably will subscribe to that because I like the idea of a cheaper box but still a good value.

I was really happy with what was in the June box; it's a mixture of food, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and it's honestly just a box of fun.

The theme of this month's box (every PopSugar Must Have is centered around a theme and all the items are related ) was "sunshine, cheers, joy, togetherness, outdoors, and festivities" so the start of summer, outdoor fun, and entertaining.




I have to say, everything really does scream summer & entertaining and I really like it.

First up, a Neutral Diamonds-Printed Sarong that is super cute, good quality and versatile. It can be used over a bathing suit, as a shall, on your head-- I may not get too much use out of this but I know my mom definitely will.





Some beauty products that I received was a NCLA nail polish in "Born on the Fourth" which is a red, white, and blue glitter polish. I haven't tried it out yet but I sure will once July 1st comes. Also, NCLA is a great, expensive high quality nail polish brand so my expectations are high.





I received Pacifica Under Arm Deodorant Wipes and these are very intriguing. I have never tried a Pacifica product but I have been wanting to for a while. I think the idea of this product is really interesting and it's ideal for the beach or the gym so I will definitely be trying these out and possible reporting back.

A lifestyle/beauty item was a Knock Knock "Are You Ready For Your Close Up" Compact. I have a few compact mirrors but I really like this one because it's one that you open & close, and it also has a magnifying mirror in addition to a regular one. This is my new go-to.



As for the entertaining items, a bottle opener that says "Cheers" and a "Wild & Wolf" Who Am I? Quiz, which my family & I played at yesterday's Father's Day BBQ.




And FINALLY, the food item in this month's box was a bag of 'Pressels', a lower calorie pretzel, in the Sriracha flavor. I haven't eaten them yet but I'm sure they're good -- I hardly ever do not like the snacks that come in subscription boxes.

And there you have it, everyone. The June 2016 PopSugar Must-Have Box. If you have the extra money and like a subscription box that isn't in one specific niche, this is the one you need. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Manicure Monday Halloween Edition

When I was younger, Halloween was my favorite holiday. I loved dressing up, going to parties, and watching Halloween movies all month long. 

I used to really get into the spirit but as I got older, I kind of lost it, mostly because Halloween became a day to dress up like a slut and get drunk beyond words but nonetheless, I still enjoy the holiday.

When I received my October PopSugar Must Have box I was hoping for some Halloween goodies and I was right.

When I saw the Nailed Kit  Halloween nail decals I jumped for joy. They were the cheapest item in the box but I was so happy to get into the Halloween spirit.

I thought about which color polish to pair with the decals and I decided on my favorite fall color "Fall in Line". It was dark enough to coincide with the holiday but light enough to have the decal stand out.


I chose the least Halloween of the decals, mostly because I did this last week and wanted to do a test run first. 


They're super easy to apply; you just peel the back paper off, place on your nail and then hold a wet cotton ball to it for a few seconds. Apply one-two coats of clear nail polish to set the decal and viola, there you have it--decorated nails! 

The good thing about these decals are that you don't feel them on your nails. They just feel like regular nail polish, nothing tough or heavy about them. I've tried nail polish decals in the past and I hated how they felt and they were more difficult to apply than I thought but these are super fun.

I love jazzing up my nails, especially when it comes to holidays so I feel like I'll be purchasing some more decals for the holiday season from Nailed Kit.

October PopSugar Must Have Box

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

Being part of the PopSugar Select Blogger Program is a lot of fun, for many reasons. One of the reasons is this bad boy right here...getting the chance to review Must Have Boxes.

This is a subscription service for $40 a month which may seem pricey but all the boxes exceed $100, and you get all full size products. 

Each month is clearly themed and you get a goodie bag delivered right to your door. It's so much fun and I've considered subscribing myself.

For now, I'll stick to occasionally getting a box to review!


There was a lot of hype over this month's box mostly because there were no spoilers or reviews to be found until this week. Seriously, no one knew what was coming and people on social media/the internet were freaking out. 

I walked into my house Saturday morning, after running a few errands, and saw the box sitting on the counter. I literally let out a squeal, I was so excited to see what was inside!


I immediately opened it and dug in.

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed with the box because I'm certainly not...there just wasn't one product that wowed me. For example, in the August box, subscribers received a piece of Kendra Scott jewelry--that is a wow factor.

This was however, the most perfect fall themed box. So.Much.Fall.Goodness!

//Happy Socks: The most adorable pair of high socks ever! I love fun designed socks, especially for the winter. These have an adorable animal print design and are dark colored (my favorite) so I can't wait to use these. (Retail price$12)

//Nailed Kit Halloween Decals: I love holiday nails but Halloween nails are something I never got into. I will definitely be trying these out once I redo my nails. They're really cute and seem easy to use! Be on the look out for a manicure monday--Halloween edition! (Retail price $8)



//butterLONDON Wink Eye Pencil: This was my favorite item in the box, because hey, it's an eyeliner. I've always wanted to try out butterLONDON beauty products but can't justify the price tag so I'm really happy I got this. It's a dark, metallic grey color that is super creamy and smooth. It's also really long lasting because I ran my hand under water and scrubbed to get off the swatch and it did not budge. This will be a fall beauty staple, for sure. (Retail price $18)



//Isaac Jacobs International Acrylic Frame: This is a precious home item and I think it's super cute. I won't be keeping it for myself but rather keeping it in my living room for my mom to decide what picture to put in it. It is a nice addition to the box though. (Retail price $36)


//Mine Design Chalkboard Candle: I was really really excited for this when I saw it! I LOVE candles, they're my new thing, and my Autumn Harvest candle is almost gone. The candle is held in a chalkboard container and comes with chalk to write on. It's the most precious idea ever and super fun and creative. The scent I got was pomegranate and it smells really nice. YAY for candles! (Retail price $24)


//Dean & DeLuca Pumpkin Spice Malt Balls: I haven't tried these yet but they look scrumptious. I'm an avid pumpkin lover so yeah, I'll try anything pumpkin. Add some dark chocolate into the mix and you've got yourself the perfect fall snack. (Retail price $5.75) 


//K.Hall Designs Shoreline Shea Butter/Olive Oil Bar Soap: This was a Popsugar extra which is always a nice surprise. I'm not huge on bar soap because I don't like the residue it leaves behind but my mom does so I'm sure someone will get use out of this.

Overall, I was satisfied with this month's box. It was filled with lots of sweet and cute fall items and I'm already looking forward to the next box I get to review!

Book Review Time: One and Only

In my complimentary June PopSugar Must Have box, I received the lovely new beach read, "One and Only" by Emily Giffin.

Giffin is a fantastic chick-lit writer (chick lit is basically fluffy, easy beach reads for women and my favorite kind). She wrote "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue", both great beachy reads. 

You can always spot an Emily Giffin novel on the shelves of your local book store because they always look exactly the same, but in a good way. They have the same simple cover and I love how uniform it is. That is such a cool thing for an author to do.


This time around, the cover was deathly different. The title print was big and bold, very in your face. I wouldn't be able to walk past this at the book store.


I hadn't heard that Emily Giffin was coming out with a new novel so I was really excited to break into this book when it arrived in my Must Have box. I immediately started reading and was entranced. I finished it within two or three days. 

It was one of those easy reading books that was light, airy but just enough intensity to make you want to keep turning pages. Every time I would stop a chapter, I just had to figure out what was going to happen next. 

I couldn't put it down. 

I won't reveal too much about the plot because you could find that anywhere and I don't want to spoil it but I'll give you a little tidbit.

Shea Rigsby, the main character, has lived in Walker, Texas her entire life. Her life there revolves around her best friend Lucy and college football. This is a very football centric novel which I loved (even though I'm not a true football fan), it was a very nice added element. 

The novel starts off with Lucy's mother dying and that carries the entire novel. It is the main reason everything else occurs. It's a domino effect and that is apparent from very early on. 

Even though you might not be able to tell which direction the book is going to go in, or where Shea is going to end up, it's still fun to read along and feel the anxiousness that you know Shea feels.

I get very in tune with the main characters of the book, especially when it's written in the first person point of view. 

I'm usually very able to tell where a book is going to end up. I can read an authors mind only because I've read so many books. I know how an author thinks because it's something I'd like to achieve one day.

This was sort of different because I didn't know what Emily was going to have happen. It could've gone in so many directions. How the book ended was very predictable, however. It didn't make me like the book any less though.

I adored this book, I really did. 

I will say this, it was a little cringe worthy at times and made me shake my head. If you read it, you'll see why.

This was a fantastic beach read. I keep saying beach read and it may be confusing as to what I mean but basically it's the perfect summer/vacation book. It's something light, easy to follow and fun to read--a guilty pleasure if you would.

It's a fantastically written novel about love, friendship, career and hard decision making. Shea is a unique character and truly has to choose between love and friendship--not an ideal decision. She is relatable, oh my god, SO relatable. She's an anxious, nervous but also strong woman who doesn't really know what she wants out of life.

"One and Only" really is a great book. It definitely is one of the best books of the summer and I can't recommend it enough. If you're going on vacation or due for a light hearted read, pick this baby up!

POPSUGAR Must Have June Box

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

Last month I posted a review of a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have Box that I received as part of the POPSUGAR Select Blogger Network. This month, I had the chance to receive another box from POPSUGAR and I was so thrilled with what I got.

I'm really considering actually subscribing to this box and possibly splitting the cost with my mom because it's amazing and definitely worth the $40. 

The minute I got the email that the box shipped, I was scrounging the internet for spoiler alerts because I always like to know what I'm expecting and when I saw one blogger post the spoiler, I got even more excited.

This month's box had a beach theme, obviously, as we head straight into summer and the products were a lot more useful and fun than last month's.

PopSugar Must Have April Box

As part of PopSugar Select, PopSugar.com's blogger network, I'm presented with wonderful opportunities every now and then. The moment I got this email, I jumped at the chance to be considered.

I got an email in January asking if I'd like to be considered to receive a complimentary PopSugar Must Have Box. This is a subscription box service that costs $40 a month but is valued at over $100. I've watched the ladies of EleventhGorgeous unbox their boxes every month and always lusted after the insane products they received. 

PopSugar Must Have isn't just beauty or home products, it's a combination of food, beauty, fashion, work, and home. It has everything and more! Each month subscribers receive five or six products based around the theme that month.

In early April I got an email that my complimentary April box had shipped; I immediately cheated and looked at other bloggers who had received their box and I was super happy with what was inside.




It took a little while for my box to arrive at my doorstep but when it did, it definitely did not disappoint. April's box was all about spring cleaning, eco friendly, and going green so all the products centered around this idea.




1. BlueAvocado Eco Shopper: This is an eco friendly shopper tote made by Lauren Conrad that retails for $25. It's perfect for farmer's markets or a day at the park.







2. Too Faced Natural Eyes: This is what I was most excited for in the box! This is an updated version of the palette with new, different shades. It's made up of all neutral colors and even though I have my Naked 3 Palette which I love, it's nice to change it up a little bit. Too Faced has been one of my favorite makeup brands for the longest time and their quality of shadows did not disappoint. This retails for $36.



3. Graphic Image Pocket Notes: I love Graphic Image and all their python, embossed products. This is the perfect, adorable pocket sized notepad that has an adorable "Run the World" saying on the front. 
It's great for writing down quick notes and fits nicely in your bag. It retails for $20.


4. Caldrea Rosewater Drifwood Hand Soap: I received a sample of Caldrea handsoap in one of my Birchboxes last year and was pleasantly surprised with it. It left my hands really soft and smelled wonderful; this full size wasn't any different. It retails at $10.50.


5. Fresh Pastry Stand Totally Awesome Tea Towel Set: These are some large tea towels; they're also made from water based ink and perfect for your home. I'll probably be giving these to my mom once I get home. They retail at $18 and are totally adorable.


6. NatureBox PopSugar Must Have Mix: I'm not super excited about this trail mix especially made for PopSugar since it has almonds, soybeans, corn, and cranberries but hey, if you're into that kind of stuff this is for you! It retails at $5.

All in all, this box definitely retailed for $100 and I was really happy with it. I think once I start working with a steady paycheck I'll forget all the other subscription services and focus on this one because for $40 a month, its a nice little treat for yourself.
