Ever since I started following bloggers I've always dreamed of having my own home office. I used to browse Pinterest for the perfect inspiration photos that would somehow manifest itself at some point in my life. I wanted the beautiful desk, the shelves that showed off my handbag collection, and just a girly place in my home that I could work, blog, and write.

Well, when I moved into my apartment in July, that dream finally came true. I have my own home office and after a few months of back and forth on furniture placement it's finally finished. 

Hi there! This is the first time in a very long time that I've gone 3 consecutive days without posting a blog. Usually when I know my schedule is going to get messed up I'll throw up a Tuesday Inspiration or Wishlist Wednesday or something random... like I'm doing now, but I just couldn't this week.

I have the interior design gene and I get it from my mom. She's always decorated our houses with such detail and beauty. I remember when I was little, we'd constantly be in furntiure stores or Home Goods looking for new pieces to add to the home.

Sometimes I'd come home from school and the living room and dining room would be rearranged, sometimes the living room ended up in the dining room and vice versa. I always loved to rearrange my own room and see what layout gave me the best floor space.

I never minded moving so much (I've lived in 7 houses in the same neighborhood in my 24 years of life) because it meant I got to pick a new paint color, new comforter, and a new feel for my room.

As I've grown up, I've taken that love of decorating with me. With the rise of 'living' content on the internet, Pinterest, and internet based design companies, there is so much inspiration online and at our fingertips.

When I moved last summer I was ready to decorate my room the way I wanted too. I was ready for a mature bedroom with all the Pinterest elements you could image. Well, that's what I got and you can see the full tour here.



I've changed things up a little bit, added a dresser and a hangbag organizer but today I want to talk about my favorite, current decor that I either have or is on my wishlist.

Throw Pillows: I LOVE throw pillows and have so many. I think they really add something special to the room and you can have fun with them; they can reflect your personality and your mood and I love that. It's like having a graphic t-shirt with your favorite saying. All my pillows are from Dormify, which is a great website that always has a good sale and is great for young adults on a budget.

I gave you a tour of my new bedroom when I moved into the new house in July. Since then, I've definitely done some sprucing up and redecorating. I always feel the need to declutter & reorganize because I like having a neat, freed up space. I'm definitely a neat freak when it comes to these types of things. I  never want my room to look like a hoarder's closet, even though it sometimes could be mistaken for that.

When I moved in, I had a storage problem. I didn't have a dresser and my closet is kind of small. I also have a lot of stuff, and I live in a house with my mom & sister who also have a lot of stuff. I knew I was going to need a dresser soon, and needed to rearrange my closet.

Well, I got bit by the organization bug the past few weeks and I'm so pleased.

The first thing I wanted to do when I moved into the house was get one of those shelving cubby units to display my handbags but I had put it off. I didn't think my room was big enough and my mom wasn't too keen on the idea. She still has the mentality that it's her house and we have to abide by the design rules -- it was always like that in our house (when I wanted to hang posters of the Jonas Brothers in my room as a teenager, she made me put them up behind my door so they weren't visible)

A few weeks ago I finally got fed up with the mess that was my closet (I had all my handbags at the bottom of the closet and it just wasn't working anymore) and ordered these off of Amazon. They were inexpensive, had good reviews, and I was so excited. I was able to put them together on my own within 2 hours and then spent some time organizing my handbags so all brands were together, and made sure everything fit.



I wish I had a before of my closet because having my handbags on display has made things in there so much easier. I also LOVE how chic it looks; I feel like a real fashion blogger.

Next on my agenda was to get a dresser. I figured I still had some time to do this as there was no rush, that was until this Friday night. In the middle of the night my closet rod collapsed and I was left with a mess of clothes on the floor of my closet. I wasn't about to get the rod fixed and only have it collapse under the weight of my wardrobe again so I had to do something & something fast.

It's in my right mind to say that when something like this happens, I need an immediate solution. I am extremely impatient and want instant gratification (hello stereotypical millennial mindset. My mom told me to just wait and we'd buy a nice dresser eventually but I couldn't. I went to Target, purchased this dresser and spent the entire day putting it together.

That's right -- two furniture building projects in two weekends. It's Sunday afternoon as I write this and my body is KILLING ME. I feel like I did 5 SoulCycle classes & then spent 2 hours in the gym afterwards. According to various places on Google, building furniture burns about 250 calories an hour. So yeah, go me!




Anyways, I threw a lot of clothes out, took a bunch of sweatshirts and graphic tees from the closet and put them in the three drawers of the dresser I built. I then cleaned out this silly basket that was filled with leggings and sorority shirts and put those in the dresser too.






I needed a major change in the design of my room, and this was just what the doctor ordered.

My mom & I found the perfect space for the dresser and decided to move some other stuff around. As I sit here, I feel like I have a whole new space.

My room has always been my sanctuary; when I was little, my parents had to bribe me to come out of my room. I could occupy myself in my bedroom for hours and hours playing with dolls and toys, and now it's no different.

I finally feel neat & complete in this little fashion blogger paradise. I want to add the Press for Champagne button from Etsy and it's set!

I've always adored Christmas, I mean, which kid doesn't? As I got older and Christmas started feeling less like Christmas, the presents under the tree were smaller and more expensive, and the climate changed (It was 70 degrees on Christmas Eve last year!!! GTFO), it started feeling less and less like Christmas.

It depressed me like no other because I didn't want that feeling of Christmas to go away. I wanted to feel jolly and holly all day long.

It was then I discovered that I can make it feel like Christmas, even if it doesn't REALLY feel like Christmas.

This means, watching only ABC Family/FreeForm the entire month of December, sitting near the Christmas tree, making Christmas themed desserts, and decorating every corner of my house.

Now, this was difficult the past few years because I was sharing a room with my sister and the room just wasn't what I wanted it to be. Now, I have my own room and I've been decorating the way I want too.




I decorated for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and now Christmas. I put out my mini decorations the day after Thanksgiving, along with helping my mom set up the Christmas tree and the rest of the house decorations.




Stringing Christmas lights along my ceiling and burning Christmas candles every night is such a huge help in lifting my spirits.



I started looking at Christmas decor during October and saving what I wanted as I went along. I just finished Christmas decor shopping last week and I don't even care.. I'm so happy with my little corner of the North Pole.

It may not look like much, but it is exactly what I wanted.

I tackled how I decorated my room with coffee table books already, and explained how that was on my decorating to do list.

Something else that has been on my decor to-do list even longer, and even more important than coffee table books?

A gallery wall.

It's such a cliche and a typical blogger/twenty-something girl to have but I couldn't help it. A gallery wall was calling my name and the moment I found out I was going to be moving, I started looking for prints.

Etsy is the place to go for prints, in my opinion. I decided to just buy the prints for cheaper, and frame  them myself. I thought it was silly to pay $80 for a print, when I could buy it for $15 and buy my own frame.

I waited until I was moved in and a bit settled to order the prints and frames; I wanted to figure out the best place to put the gallery wall and how many photos I needed.

My mom bought me two regular, but fun photos to hang on my wall, which you can see below:



Because of this, I knew I didn't want too many photos for the gallery wall, so I only purchased four photos from Etsy, from a variety of shops.

There are so many incredible artists on Etsy, and so many prints that fit my aesthetic, but I knew the types of photos I wanted:

A macaroon print
A lipstick/perfume/or nail polish print
A makeup quote
Something fashion related, like shoes or a handbag

I chose the four I wanted, ordered them, and waited patiently. Etsy, depending on where the seller is, does take a little long so it was a waiting game. Once they did arrive, they were well worth the wait because they were so nicely packaged and well protected.

I went to Target and picked up these frames in a few different sizes (2 black frames and 2 white frames). My mom and I hung the frames within 30 minutes and I had my perfect gallery wall.

I am completely obsessed with the wall; it came together perfectly and really reflects the feeling I wanted. I'm also not mad at the fact that I found a print of Carrie Bradshaw's closet. I mean, she is my idol so it's only appropriate.

I've had a blast decorating my room over the past month and it's pretty much complete. I know decorating is never finished, as times and seasons change, your design will change as well.

When moving into my new room, I knew I wanted to decorate with coffee table books. I think they're so chic to have in various places around the room, and I'm already such a big book worm.

They were some of the first pieces I looked at for decor and they've become my favorite part of my room. I still want to add a few more to the collection, but below are some of my favorites so far:
