I have my first engagement party on Saturday for one of my oldest and dearest friends. I'm so excited to celebrate her and her fiancé! It's at a local rooftop restaurant, one that I surprisingly never have been to.

Because I've never been to an engagement party, I wasn't sure what to wear. I also wasn't too keen on buying a new dress because I have a bunch of dresses in my closet from other parties.
After trying on only two different dresses, both black, I decided to wear a J.Crew dress that still had the tags on it. I bought it over a year ago because it was on sale and I figured I would be able to wear it sometime. I mean, it's a simple black dress with scallop accents.

This is in blue but my dress is black!

*Before I even knew what dress I was going to wear, I had my shoes picked out and they are the SJP Collection Newsprint shoes -- more on those in another post!I think the key to an engagement party is to dress for the couple and the venue. I know this will be a slightly fancier event because we're a group that likes to look our best, but it won't be over the top because it's on a rooftop.

Just remember to not outshine the bride to be and remember that it's not a wedding. My motto for any kind of party is "when in doubt, wear black".

Even though I knew I wasn't buying a new dress, that didn't stop me from looking. These are my favorite dresses that would be perfect for an engagement party.

Spring is not my favorite season but after the winter we've had here in New York, I am fully ready to embrace bright colors and light linens.

This past Sunday, Easter Sunday to be exact, I proudly donned a white on white jean ensemble with a bright blue necklace and loved every second of it. I am just so ready to put my riding boots and winter coats in storage... and the weather is slowly getting us there.

I have a nice amount of spring clothes but since I prefer fall and winter, my choices for cold weather outfits are far more hefty. I know I need to brush up on my spring style so I thought I'd round up a few pieces and styles that I have my eye on.

J.Crew Drapey Sleeveless Top J.Crew Ponte Shell  J.Crew Linen Lace Tee AEO Boho Printed Muscle Tee AEO Printed Corset Dress AEO Printed Romper
There is a severe lack of bottoms in this post mostly because I wear jeans or leggings until the weather becomes too hot. Then, it's strictly rompers, dresses, and skirts. I am not a fashion girl so I stick to the basics but I really need to expand my horizons.

Any suggestions on what I should rock this spring/summer? What are your favorite pieces? Tell me below!

As a college girl and blogger, I'm constantly looking for new, cheap clothing brands. I have a very simple, chic style and really just like anything that I think looks nice and that I'm comfortable in. I've been running on a college budget so it's always nice to find a brand that is relatively low price but has high quality clothes.

A website called ShopHope's was brought to my attention recently and I've fallen in love.

The site has very trendy clothing but I really feel as if there is something for everyone. The best thing about Shop Hope's? They have NEW arrivals twice a day from Monday-Friday, at 12pm and 5pm. That is something I've never heard of a clothing website/brand doing which really sets it apart from anything else.

It also means that there are always new items for you to look at and purchase.

Shop Hope's also always ships free in the US and Canada. I online shop a lot and shipping is something that always makes or breaks my decision to buy something. Sometimes the shipping is more than the item I'm purchasing and it's really annoying.

Shop Hope's definitely caters to a certain kind of style but I'm kind of obsessed with a few items on their website.

I'm very into dresses this season as you can tell and Shop Hope's has a lot of them.

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.

I know I just recently wrote a post about prom dresses but the season is coming nearer and nearer. My sister is still searching for a prom dress and it's pretty much all I hear about. Dress shopping is really difficult, it's not something that is fun (at least in my eyes it isn't).

Aside from prom season it's also wedding season and formal season so dress shopping is becoming more and more common, also more and more annoying. It also gets to be pretty expensive, especially if you're attending more than one formal event in a season. No one wants to be caught in the same dress twice.

It'll be okay though because there are more and more sites out there that are helping out the cause.

JenJenHouse is an awesome website that sells not only gorgeous prom dresses but all other kinds of formal wear as well! The minute I clicked on the site, I was in shock at how beautiful the dresses were. I was also taken back by how cheap they are.

If I could've worn a beautiful prom dress for $130, I would've jumped at the chance.

The website is super easy to use also; my sister has been looking online for dresses and for prom, I would never recommend that but in the end, it works out. JenJen House has all these awesome filters you could use to narrow down the exact type of dress you want.

That kind of takes all the guess work out of shopping because you're able to ultimately, create your perfect dress.

JenJen House has some of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen, I'd like to buy one for myself to wear whenever I feel fancy because, seriously, they're stunning.

Here are some of my favorite prom dresses featured on JenJen House

If you can't tell, I definitely have a type of dress that I like. I love chiffon dresses because they look so elegant and flow so well. I also LOVE red dresses, mostly because they look good with my skin complexion.

You also can't go wrong with a sweetheart neckline, which looks great on almost everyone.

In the end, there is a perfect prom/formal season dress for everyone. You'll find yours.

Check out JenJen House and check out the rest of their gorgeous dresses!

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.

When I was home over break, my high school senior sister started looking for the perfect prom dress. I remember when I was a senior and my prom dress was the end all be all of my decisions. I needed to find something beautiful, stunning, and looked great on me; it which wasn't the easiest to find but I eventually found my dress.

Me, circa 2010 (OH GOD)

Dress shopping is never easy, at least for me. I tried on countless different styles, colors and fabrics of dresses but nothing was right. It was really annoying at times and frustrating beyond belief, especially when my mother and me would bicker in the store because we have two totally different tastes on what we like.

The other side of prom dress shopping is that it's not cheap. My prom dress cost around $400 which was a steep price, in 2010, but now the dresses my sister were looking at were well over $400, and then some.

No one wants a cheap prom dress because no one wants it to look cheap. How do you find a prom dress that looks and feels expensive without shelling out money that will be wasted on a dress you'll wear once.

The answer comes in the form of a website that I was introduced too, DressFirst.com. Now, I know a lot of my readers aren't of high school age but this site doesn't have just prom dresses, it provides dress wear for all occasions.

Almost all the dresses come in a variety of different colors which is great because I remember I'd find a gorgeous dress that only came in some heinous color that I didn't want anywhere near me. Having color options for a style dress you love is important.

The dresses are insanely cheap, under $200 which is a Godsend for high schoolers and their parents. I looked through the website and found some of my favorite style prom dresses.

Happy September everyone! Also, Happy Labor Day!

It was my first weekend back at school with all my friends and it was splendid. I have no classes on Fridays so I had the longest weekend ever and it was perfect.

I've been getting adjusted to the routine that school gives me and no matter how many times I do it, the first week back is always difficult.

Nonetheless, I'm happy to be back, even though being a senior is the weirdest thing ever. Once again I apologize for my lack of blog posts over the past week but hopefully me posting every day goes back to normal.

Fall begins soon and I cannot wait to dress in sweaters and riding boots. I have been looking and lusting after fall fashions and I found one dress that I have not been able to stop thinking about.

It may not be a fall fashion but it's close enough; this Bold Stripe Lace Dress from Ann Taylor is haunting my dreams. I love lace and the contrast between the blue and nude colors is just incredible.

It's on sale today but my credit card cannot handle another swipe. I don't even know where I would wear this dress, maybe sorority formal later in the year?

I guess I'll just keep loving it from afar and hope that when my birthday comes in November, it's still available. I need this dress, badly.
