Showing posts with label monday musings
The Monday after a really great weekend is always the toughest. This was one of the better weekends during the summer as I had a lot of plans and really enjoyed them.

I can't believe it's already August and that the summer has flown by. This is around the time when I'd be getting my stuff ready for school, organizing plans with my roommates and sorority sisters and counting down the days till I return to New Rochelle.

That day is never coming and my goodness it's really difficult. Talking to all my younger friends from school and hearing how excited they are is depressing as hell. It's scary and it's going to be a long, rough month.

In the meanwhile, I went to a Mets game at Citi Field with some friends on Friday and it was awesome. We were at field level right behind the Mets dugout. I'm not a Mets fan (#Yankees) but it was still so cool. Also, Citi Field is a lot nicer than Yankee Stadium so being there in itself is an experience.

Another thing I was loving this weekend was the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. This was floating around my Facebook for a few days before it blew up! Pat Quinn is an Iona (#gogaels) alum who was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in 2013. He challenged his friends to dump a bucket of ice water over their head or donate $100 to the Quinn for the Win Foundation.

Because us Gaels stick together, almost all my friends and other Iona people have participated in the challenge and it's amazing to see how fast it has spread.

Here's my video:

I nominated my friends to do it but now I'm nominating all of you! Take the Ice Bucket challenge or donate a little something to the Quinn4theWin Foundation! Send me your videos by email (lucabriana@gmail.com) or leave them in the comments!

Other than these two, I hung out at home and with some friends this weekend but now it's Monday and back to work.

Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you enjoy the sunshine, BBQs, and beach days with your friends and family but make sure you take a minute to say a prayer and give thanks to those soldiers who show what Memorial Day is all about!

Like I promised last week, my blogging schedule would return to normal because even my first post grad summer deserves some routine.

I really need to get my head together because last week was such a hectic time so for now, here are some musings to start off the week!

1. Mad Men: It's that time of year again, it's summertime so it means that Neflix is in full force. There is nothing else to do besides lay around all day and binge watch a television show that your friends have been watching for years. This time around, I decided Mad Men would be a good choice because I've been told I'd probably enjoy it. As I write this at 11:30pm on Sunday night, I've watched the entire first season in about 26 hours. That's an issue but I'll disregard it. It's seriously an amazing television show; it has everything you could want: the 1950s, beautiful people, humor, drama, sex, lust, and love. I'm kind of addicted. If you haven't watched it, I advise you too. There's no way there could be a person who doesn't like the show.

2. New blog design: If you've stumbled along Royally Pink for the past few days, you would notice the new branding/design that's come along. I knew that with graduation and post grad life, I was going to need a new feel and look to the blog. This is all owed to the lovely Nicole Rose of Nicole Rose Designs; I answered a few of her questions and her creativity ran wild. I'm amazed at how she basically read my mind and came up with this beautiful design. I'm obsessed! Tell me what you think in the comments, I'd love to hear your opinions!!

3. 2014-2015 Lilly Agendas: I've been busting for a new planner for my post grad life (Let's count how many times I could say 'post grad' in a blogpost) and I've kind of ruled out the Lilly agenda because I feel like I need something more mature, a little more organized and sophisticated. Just because I feel like that doesn't mean that I can't lust over the "alleged" new Lilly designs. I don't think there is a pattern I don't like. I might need to get a mini one and keep it for the blog because they're too pretty to not have!

4. 19 Interntal Debates A Girl Has When Deciding if She Should Stay In or Go Out: I struggle with this decision on a weekly basis. There are days when I'm dying to go out and others when I know that I want to stay in but there are those in-between nights where it's a tough call. This article makes that all very clear.

I'll be spending Memorial Day running errands and chilling out. What are your plans on this Monday off?

NYC is experiencing another hectic week of snow. I'm snowed in with my roomies up at school and desperately in need of some Pink Moscato, too bad I'm too lazy to leave the house.

This is what my day will consist of
snowday

Pinterest, trolling the Internet and catching up on "Girls" will how my day will be spent. On my travels, I found this adorable little saying that is making me yearn for the Upper East Side.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I miss my Gossip Girl friends.

What are you doing on this snowy day?

Happy September everyone! Also, Happy Labor Day!

It was my first weekend back at school with all my friends and it was splendid. I have no classes on Fridays so I had the longest weekend ever and it was perfect.

I've been getting adjusted to the routine that school gives me and no matter how many times I do it, the first week back is always difficult.

Nonetheless, I'm happy to be back, even though being a senior is the weirdest thing ever. Once again I apologize for my lack of blog posts over the past week but hopefully me posting every day goes back to normal.

Fall begins soon and I cannot wait to dress in sweaters and riding boots. I have been looking and lusting after fall fashions and I found one dress that I have not been able to stop thinking about.

It may not be a fall fashion but it's close enough; this Bold Stripe Lace Dress from Ann Taylor is haunting my dreams. I love lace and the contrast between the blue and nude colors is just incredible.

It's on sale today but my credit card cannot handle another swipe. I don't even know where I would wear this dress, maybe sorority formal later in the year?

I guess I'll just keep loving it from afar and hope that when my birthday comes in November, it's still available. I need this dress, badly.
