Fall 2022 Beauty Edit

in , , , by RoyallyPink, 4:00 AM

If you haven't heard, fall is my favorite season and as soon as the weather drops below 70 degrees I am in fall mode. I've already decorated (though I held off an extra week) and brought out a few fall themed graphic tees and sweatshirts, and I put away my bathing suits and shorts. Once it gets a little cooler I'll break out the sweaters and leather pants.

With the change of seasons comes a new bout of trends, from fashion to decor to food to beauty. I love a good fall beauty trend report and I think that this year, the trends are all over the place, in a good way. There are trends for the very bold, like face gems and bleached brows and trends that are more wearable, like what I'm going to talk about today.

This summer was really the summer of glazed donut skin and Rare Beauty blush... I don't see those going anywhere any time soon but perhaps with just a cool weather twist.

I scoured the internet and used my beauty industry insider brain to come up with the trends I'm most excited to see and wear this fall season.

Once the weather dips in temperature and the calendar strikes October, I am fully in Fall lip mode! It continues until about March when I have to put away all my dark colors but I savor every last bit of it.

Dark lipstick wasn't something I always loved but over the past few years, I've realized how cozy and chic they make me feel and look.  I fully blame Kylie Jenner for this as well because her liquid lipsticks are the reason I got hooked on this trend. Now, I wait all year to be able to rock a dark berry or brown lipstick.

I figured what better time to share my favorite cold weather lipsticks than right before Thanksgiving and of course, the biggest shopping day of the year!

From top to bottom: Twenty, French Press, Yum Yum, Latte, Velvet Teddy
and Sex on the Peach

Too Faced Sex on the Peach

This is the ideal 'your lips but better' shade. It's a gorgeous mix of mauve, nude, and brown tones. The matte finish of this lipstick does provide moisture hence the name 'Moisture Matte' but still gives a really nice matte effect. It's new to my collection this year but I've really grown to love it.

MAC Velvet Teddy in Matte

I just swatched this next to the Too Faced shade and they are very similar but Velvet Teddy has more pink and nude than brown. It's a little less matte than Too Faced but still gives a similar look.

Anastasia Beverly Hills in Latte

I was so excited last year when ABH released regular matte lipsticks. After looking through all the shades I knew I needed Latte because I'm a sucker for that name but also I really wanted a brown lipstick. This is super matte, more matte the others and it can be a little uncomfortable but if you take the time to apply you'll be fine. This isn't an extremely dark brown but it's deep enough to give you the look you want to achieve. I recommend swatching this lipstick formula before buying if you're a little sensitive to matte lipsticks.

Sephora Collection #Lipstories in Yum Yum

The Sephora Collection #LipStories lipsticks are only $8, come in an insane amount of colors and finishes and have the cutest cardboard packaging. I'm a sucker for them and I love the shade 'Yum Yum'. It's a cream finish and is very creamy so I would use a lip liner with this one. It is a true brown but warmer than the ABH one which is really pretty. If you want a comfortable, creamy brown lipstick to wear throughout the season, I definitely recommend picking this one up. For $8 you cannot go wrong.

Bite Beauty French Press Lipgloss in French Press

I am a huge fan of the Bite Beauty French Press lipglosses and I have to stop myself from wearing them. The shade French Press is the latest one I picked up and is the darkest. Dark lipgloss is hard to wear and I do have a difficult time doing so but it's so fun! It gives such a different effect to a regular matte or cream lipstick and I think if you want to experiment, a dark lipgloss might be good for you because it's never going to be as opaque as a regular lipstick. The formula is truly my all time favorite lipgloss formula because it's not sticky! They apply really nice and even, add a good amount of gloss and shine but aren't so opaque that you feel like you should just wear lipstick. Even if French Press isn't your thing, try a more neutral shade like Salted Caramel.

Kylie Cosmetics Twenty Lip Kit

I cannot do a dark lip color post without mentioning what my all time favorite lipstick is. Kylie Cosmetics 'Twenty' is a dream come true. It is everything I could ever want in a lipstick and I'm thrilled that she made it permanent. Twenty is a dark, very matte, rosy mauve with some brown and plum tones throughout it.

What are your favorite lip colors to wear during the cold weather?

It's finally my season... it's my time to shine and I'm breaking out all my old (and new) favorites!

With the change of season comes a change of routine, whether that's your daily routine, workout routine, or more importantly, a beauty routine.

Usually, it's the skincare side of things that change up drastically once the weather chills out because, without a good skincare routine, your makeup routine means nothing.

I haven't figured out my new fall skincare routine quite yet because the weather is still in the 80s here in New York, but the day after Labor Day, I started changing up my entire beauty regime.

It's time to break out the dark colors, the matte foundations, and warm eyeshadows.. fall is here!

  • Laura Geller Iconic Baked Lipstick in Broadway Plum: This is one of my favorite fall lip shades and one that I am constantly applying and reapplying all season long. It's the perfect plum without being too dark or too vampy so I feel like it's pretty universal for everyone. Also, this is one of my favorite lipstick formulas EVER! Very creamy, very comfortable, and simply gorgeous.
  • Essie Angora Cardi: There's a reason this is the most popular Fall nail polish season after season on Pinterest... it embodies everything that is Fall. It's the perfect mix of mauve, plum, and brown and every year it's my favorite, most used shade. I'm rocking it now and I've never been happier.
  • NARSissist Loaded Eyeshadow Palette: I love a good warm shadow palette all year round but there are certain palettes that just scream fall and this NARS one is it. It has the perfect mixture of greys, browns, and golds with a few plum and pink shades thrown in for good measure. I have hardly worn it all summer because it's just too fall(y) for me!
  • Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Your Love Is King: Once Fall hits I'm all about a full face of glam and I love a good plum blush. This shade from the Too Faced collection is one of my favorites. It's a nice mauve/purple/plum shade without being too much and it adds the perfect amount of color to the cheeks.
As for foundations and concealers, I don't really change that too much. I do tend to put my tinted moisturizers on hold and opt for a more opaque foundation formula... below are a few of my favorites!

What are your favorite beauty products for fall?

I've been thinking a lot about Birchbox and maybe I don't need these monthly boxes filled with beauty products. I have enough products to last 3 lifetimes. It's beginning to get a tad bit overwhelming and I think about canceling my subscription more than once a month.

But then, I watch the Sample Choice videos, see the previews, the pretty box, and I'm so happy to spend my $10 a month on this baby. It doesn't get much better than Birchbox -- the points system is treating me pretty well these days, and the Customer Appreciation Day was such a deal breaker -- in a good way.

Every time I get my box, the overwhelming feeling gets wiped away. It's just too perfect!

(Side note: maybe I'll do a make-up declutter before the holidays and see what I have/use/don't use -- that's a good idea for the soul and for a good blog post)

Well, the September box was a special one because it was their 5 year anniversary box, meaning it was filled with some extra special goodies. I think this is the most samples I've ever received in a box and I was really happy with all of them.

All Birchbox subscribers also got 20% off to the Birchbox Shop included in their subscriptions so that is a nice little bonus. 20% off does a girl good in the shop.

Also -- Birchbox is doing a great deal this month! If you sign up for your first subscription, you get it for $5! That's 50% off a regular monthly subscription. Get a nice little box of samples for $5? That sounds perfect! Sign up here!

I haven't used any of the products that I received yet, but I am impressed with the quality of them all. I think I was a little scared of the eyeshadow palette thinking it would be cheap, but I should've known -- Birchbox never steers me wrong!

//Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser: I've heard a lot of thing about Malin + Goetz in subscription services but have never tried anything from them. Well, that's still true because I haven't tried this yet :( It says that it clears breakouts & balances out your skin's pH so it should be good! I love getting cleansers in subscription boxes because they're great to travel with but I also really like trying new ones out! As a bonus item, I got the Malin + Goetz vitamin e moisturizer (which I also haven't tried yet)

Sample size: 3/5
Full size: $26

//Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo: I haven't tried this either (like I said, I haven't tried anything) but this I especially haven't tried this because I still have a bit of keratin treatment in my hair so I didn't want to use any shampoos that aren't sulfate free. This is an amazing sample size and I am excited to try it out, since it says it smoothes out frizz & tangle proned hair. I also got a bonus with this, the Davines LOVE conditioner!

Sample size: 5/5
Full size: $35

//NERD Skincare Super Hydrating Mask: I always appreciate a good sheet mask to add to my ever growing collection. This isn't so different. I've never heard of NERD Skincare but it seems fancy since a set of 3 masks are $27!! This mask is supposed to give you a more youthful, smoother complexion so I may save this for a really tired skin day.

Sample size: 5/5
Full size: 3 for $27

//Pop Beauty POP Portfolio Eyeshadow in Sugar Plum: I never received a POP Eyeshadow and I think I was always very scared that I would get one. I thought the packaging looked cheap and that the product would be no different. Well, I was terribly wrong. The packaging may look a little cheap but it doesn't feel it-- and the eyeshadows are pigmented, smooth, and rather large. I'm really happy I got this little trio and I hope I get more!

Sample size: 4/5
Full size: $24

//Rituals Happy Buddha Foaming Shower Gel: A foaming shower gel? That sounded interesting to me yet I haven't tried it out yet! It's supposed to be very moisturizing and soothing which I hope is true because my skin is already getting dry.

Sample size: 4/5
Full size: $25

I am definitely a little late in posting this (I think I got my Birchbox a little late) and in actually reviewing the products but life has just been getting the best of me lately! #sobusy

All in all, I was relatively happy with this Birchbox and I can't wait to see what October (OMG) has in store :)

What did everyone else get in their Birchbox this month?

Last week I posted my Fall fashion wish-list and what items I was coveting for this fall season. While I love clothes shopping, buying new fashions and staying up to date on the latest trends, sometimes clothes aren't my favorite thing to buy.

My first love is always beauty products, whether it's a good moisturizer or the latest nail polish color, I cannot get enough. The more I read beauty blogs, subscription services, or watch my favorite vloggers, I find more and more products I want to try.

I have a hefty list of items that I'm desiring but for the fall season, there are certain items that are calling my name. With cool weather and dark colors upon us, there is nothing better than a vampy lip color, smoky eyes and a natural finish foundation look.

There are so many beauty looks I want to try out this fall season and I know these products will help me with that.

Here's my fall beauty wish list:

//Too Faced Coco Powder Foundation: I'm still new to the foundation game and powder foundations confused me till no end. I saw this in Sephora  few weeks ago but didn't think much of it till I saw Tiffany D's review of it. I'm sold and this will be my next big splurge.

//Loreal Tru Match Foundation: This drugstore liquid foundation has won every beauty award this season and I've seen a lot of people rave about it. Every time I go to buy it, I stop myself and don't really know why. I know I need a foundation with more coverage (my Maybelline Fit Me isn't cutting it much longer) so I definitely need to buy this ASAP.

//ELF Matte Lip Colors: I have one of these from last winter in Praline and I'm obsessed. ELF released three new shades this season which are currently waiting in my cart, ready to buy. Aside from dark nail polish, dark lips are my second favorite fall beauty trend.

//Benefit's It's Potent Eye Cream: I need a new night time eye cream and this is the one I want. I had a sample of this a few months ago and it was amazing. It was super hydrating and left my eyes bright and awake. It's a little pricey so I'll be saving up for this. It's important to keep under-eyes smooth and moist since the dry, fall air will affect your skin greatly.

//Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray: This baby is only $7 and smells like roses. HELLO! It's perfect. Beauty bloggers everywhere have been talking about this and I've been wanting to experiment with facial sprays. I think the fall, when the air is driest, is the perfect time to start playing around.

//Coastal Scents To Go Palettes: I thought my Naked3 palette would satisfy my eyeshadow needs but I've noticed recently that it's not. I want more color, like plum and burgundy. I've seen these all over recently and I think they're super cute. Coastal Scents is supposed to have pretty good quality shadows for the price so I may splurge on one of these.

//ELF Studio Blush Palette: Blush is something I don't have much of because I'm not crazy about it but like so many other things, I've been wanting to experiment. The dark shades in this quad are great for everyday or dramatic, night looks. Also, you can't beat the price of ELF products.

As usual, my list of "wants" is super long...and to think I was just saying how I need to save money. When will I learn?

Anyways...what beauty products are you dying to try for the fall?
