Anybody would love to look and feel beautiful. Anybody would love to have perfect skin, a perfect body, perfect facial features and so on. And because so many people want to improve their physical appearance and overall health, companies have found an opportunity to do business by meeting the demands of those who want to feel good--both inside and out.

Today, there’s a plethora of beauty supplements in the market--all promising great looks (or at least, an improvement) for those who desire them. Whether they be for the face, skin or body, supplements are continuously being developed to enhance anything that consumers want to improve in themselves.

For instance, breast pills have gained popularity among those who desire bigger breasts, or who’d like them to be more proportionate to their body or body type. There are also skin supplements which are meant to make your skin look healthier, younger. There are likewise dietary supplements for those who want to shed pounds but are often too busy or tired to go to the gym. And while there are so many brand names and types of supplements available in the market, it can be hard to figure out what suits you best.

In Pursuit of Beauty
There seem to be a lot of options when it comes to health and beauty supplements, and choosing what will best work for you can be a little confusing, possibly even overwhelming. So, if you’d like to try the power of beauty supplements, here’s a guide to help you get started.

  1. Multivitamins. Yes, you have to start with multivitamins. If you think that multivitamins are just taken to strengthen your immune system, combat disease and keep up your energy, then you’re only partly right. Multivitamins play a huge part in making you look young and beautiful: As the experts say, if you are healthy on the inside, it will reflect on the outside.
When you are well, your skin glows, your hair is lustrous, and you don’t look haggard or stressed out. Multivitamins are effective and useful in filling in the nutritional gaps caused by the lack of nutrients in your diet. Whether we like it or not, we need to face the truth that we don’t always eat the foods that are meant to keep us at optimum health, and we love eating empty calories from food that’s essentially junk, much of it processed.

A good multivitamin provides your body with all the vitamins and minerals it needs. While most of the reliable brands aren’t cheap, you are guaranteed that you get what you pay for.

  1. Biotin. Biotin, which is also known as Vitamin H, is essential for keeping your hair strong and healthy. When you’re stressed out, it becomes evident in the condition of your hair. Biotin supplements help keep your hair, nails, and skin stay healthier.  Also sometimes referred to as “hair food,” biotin is highly recommended for those who have brittle hair and those suffering from hair loss.
  1. Lysine. Supplementing your diet with lysine is highly recommended for those who experience significant hair loss, which can be especially evident while you’re taking a shower. Lysine is an amino acid that helps build protein; it is good for the hair because your hair is composed exactly of -- well-- protein. Aside from fortifying your hair, lysine also makes your scalp healthy and can stimulate hair growth.
  1. Retinol. Retinol is a vitamin A compound which aids in the development of new skin. Even those who have dry skin are strongly encouraged to supplement their diet with retinol. Not only that. Apart from your skin, you can benefit from the fact that retinol is also a supplement for the brain. It boosts memory and enhances learning ability, which is why it is also recommended for students.
  1. Ceramides. Ceramides are often seen in topical products and are rarely found in oral form. This supplement is also for the skin, especially for those who have eczema and dry skin.
  1. Vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential to your body. Aside from helping you fight common sickness and infections, vitamin C aids in the healing of skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. It has the ability to reduce cell damage and can act as an antioxidant. And the reason why most adults are encouraged to take vitamin C is because it can slow down the aging process.
  1. Fish Oil. Experts recommend fish oil for various purposes including weight loss, skin regeneration, hair growth and even certain psychological disorders. However, high and frequent doses can be dangerous because it contains high level of toxins so make sure that you consult your doctor to find the right dosage for you.
  1. Manuka Honey. Manuka honey is not the typical honey because it contains higher levels of enzymes. It is effective in treating acne, so if you have a breakout, you can use manuka honey as a supplement. You can take it directly, mix it with tea, or use it as a mask at least once a week.
  1. Spearmint. Spearmint is also an excellent solution for acne because of its anti-inflammatory properties. You can take spearmint as capsules or you can drink spearmint tea to cure or prevent acne. However, having too much of spearmint can be dangerous to your liver so make sure you don’t use it excessively.
  1. Vitamin E. Vitamin E is also considered as a skin vitamin because it is an antioxidant which means that it has the ability to destroy free radicals. It is effective in slowing down the signs of aging and is helpful in preventing heart disease. This vitamin is what you need if you want to achieve a clearer complexion and younger looking skin because it reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Vitamin E can also treat sunburn and as well as acne.
  1. Zinc. Zinc, just like Vitamin E, also promotes clearer complexion. It reduces the appearance of scars and pimple marks, and is also useful in preventing or treating acne. Zinc is essential in collagen production which aids in skin growth and repair.
  1. Vitamin D. Vitamin D is popular for helping the body absorb calcium, but it can also treat skin irritation and inflammation. You might want to supplement your diet with this vitamin during the colder months because it is effective in treating flaking and itching of the skin.

Now that the use of supplements to achieve better health and beauty has gained more popularity, it is crucial that you have knowledge about them to ensure correct usage and to maximize their benefits.
Today's post is brought to you in partnership with The Newsette & HUM Nutrition

I've previously written about my obsession with the Hum Nutrition Beauty zZzzs supplments and I thought I'd expand that with some deep diving into other aspects, and another products from the brand.

Let's first start out with what HUM is...

HUM Nutrition is an all-natural line of supplments; the mission of HUM is to make take your beauty routine inside out and giving you all natural, non GMO, organic & vegan supplments that focus on prevention, and long term care.

It's taking self-care and turning it on it's head. All about wellness, HUM gives you the supplments and vitamins in fun packaging, with fun names to make things a little more Instagram chic, which I can always appreciate.

One of my favorite parts about HUM is that you can take a little test on their website and it'll tell you what kind of supplments and vitamins you need. You can subscribe to their program through HUMNutrition.com or buy stand alone products at a variety of retailers like Nordstrom and Sephora.

Self care is a true buzz word nowadays and I love incorparting these supplments into that routine.

As I mentioned before, I already love Beauty zZzzs so I always end my day with a capsule, some Sleepytime Tea, some essential oils and my Mediation app.

My favorite thing in the world is to be relaxed and calm, and some days I'm so high strung that I can't calm down. Pairing my HUM supplment with all my other relaxing properities creates the most ideal space for me to fall asleep.

The Beauty zzZz supplment contains melatonin and B6, and helps promote a restful beauty sleep. Without sleep, your skin and body will suffer so any makeup you put on to mask that tiredness won't have the same effect.

I've taken other sleeping 'pills' and they always take forever to kick in, and then makes me very groggy the next morning. When I took Beauty zZzz for the first time, I was stunned at how fast I went to sleep and how I felt rested the next morning -- it didn't feel like I didn't get any sleep. It really works and since I've been taking this (almost 2 years), I don't feel the need to take any other sleep supplment.

On the flip side, I got to try out another HUM supplment. I've spoken freely about my struggle with anxiety, depression, and stress and lately, my stress level has been through the roof. Nothing has really been cutting it when it comes to helping me deal with stress, so 'Big Chill' came at the perfect time.

Big Chill says that it helps you cope with and remove the signs of stress. It slows down your reaction to stress and will help you focus better during times of high stress -- which is probably my #1 issue with stress. Whenever I'm really stressed and anxious, I can't focus on anything else so this is a great feature for me.

When I'm home and feeling anxious, there are a few things that I do to make myself feel better, and they pair beautifully with the Big Chill supplments.

If I'm stressed to the point of no return, I hide out in my room, turn the lights off and shut off the computer. I light a candle, diffuse some essential oils, and grab a book. I will watch some television because I always have the television on. I try to chug some water, maybe even have a calming tea but combining all of this with the Big Chill has really worked out for me... (I mean, Big Chill works fine on it's own too!) but I love pairing all my relaxing, destressing items together.

Like I said, self care is all the rage but truthfully I've been doing self care since before it was cool. I just love that there's a word for it now!

I'm anxious (in the best way) to try some more HUM products to add to my routine(s) because these two have worked out so well, and I'm all about wellness this year!

PS: If you HAVEN'T signed up for The Newsette yet, I HIGHLY recommend you do so now!

I can't believe May is over and it's basically, officially summer. I'm excited for summer (yes, seriously) and excited for it to be over because that means FALL. Will you ever get sick of me saying that? Probably!

This month was a whirlwind with many trips, lots of business at work, and a few personal milestones that I won't share. It was an exhausting month but now that the month is over, and after this week, everything will calm down.

I'm making plans for the summer and I can't wait to travel and get out there to see what's waiting for me!

I feel like I didn't have many favorites this month but here's what I did enjoy:

1. Louis Vuitton Cosmetic Pouch: I bought this little adorable baby on Tradesy and it's in perfect condition. I was very nervous to use it but I really started using it this month and I have fallen head over heels. It's so gorgeous and versatile, and the pink interior is so girly and chic. Of all the things I bought pre-loved Louis Vuitton, this is my favorite. I highly recommend purchasing it!

2. NARS Tinted Moisturzer: I did not need a new 'foundation' type product but I was really feeling NARS this month. They popped up at Ulta and I was on an Ulta spree this month. This tinted moisturzer is more like a foundation because it's thick and covers a lot (I can't just rub it in with my hands, I need to apply it with a beauty blender or brush) but I've never loved the way my skin looked more. It evens everything out, covers every imperfection, and leaves a radiant finish on the skin. It's the ultimate lazy girl product (you almost don't even need concealer with it) and I think everyone would love it.

3. Too Faced Hangover RX Primer: This is a primer I purchased years ago, loved, and never got again. I felt the need to have it in my aresnal and boy am I glad I repurchased. It's just as good as I remember because it feels so good on the skin and it doubles as a moisturzer. In the summer, I don't like putting too many layers on so I think this is a great summertime product because you can moisturzer and prime in one step!

4. Nature's Bounty Hair Skin & Nails Vitamins: I received this in a subscription box last month and finished the bottle. I've since went out and purchased a new, bigger bottle because I've never loved vitamins more. I always thought I never needed Biotin because my hair is thick and long, and my skin is decent; my nails always could use some help. Because I never thought I needed these vitamins, I never bothered to purchase them but since I had them, I used them. I noticed a huge difference in my nails and skin -- I don't know what it is, and I don't know if I could explain it, but to me, there is a difference. These vitamins are gummies and taste so good, I could eat the entire bottle in one sitting. Also, they are on the less expensive side (at least in my drugstore) so I highly recommend these, even if you don't think you need them!

What are your favorites of the month?
xoxo
