It is that time of year again... it's time for wedding season! I'll be attending only two weddings this year, thankfully, but by now I'm a seasoned pro. I've been to so many wedding events and weddings over the past two years, it feels like that's all the socializing I've done.

With my many weddings comes a lot of wedding outfits; between engagement parties, bridal showers and the actual weddings, that's a lot of outfits for us women so I wanted to help make it a little easier for everyone.

I am incredibly picky about what I wear to these events; I like to be comfortable but still look good. I don't want to be in something over the top but want to feel just as dressed as everyone else in the room. If that sounds like you, then definitely keep scrolling for my picks.

I've attended so many weddings over the past two years I feel like an expert at what to wear. That being said, I have a very hard time finding dresses that I like, are comfortable in and feel like I look good in.

Dresses are my least favorite item of clothing and it's always been the worst shopping experience for me. It drives me insane whenever I need to find a new dress to wear and truthfully, I stick with the same few dresses I have in my closet and usually wear to black dresses because it's my favorite color of clothing.

All of that being said, I know that finding dresses is difficult for a lot of people and wanted to make it easy for you if you have a wedding coming up this fall and winter.

Wedding season is officially kicking off and I'm honestly really looking forward to it. Last year, I was supposed to have a ton of weddings but that of course, got pushed back to this year. Now, starting this coming weekend is a marathon of weddings and I cannot wait. I have three weddings this summer, one in the fall, and then three next year.

That means I will need a ton of dresses, especially when the guests overlap, which they will occasionally. Dress shopping always stresses me out and makes me really upset. When I was younger and would go dress shopping for proms, dances, parties, I would usually end up hysterical crying, and having a panic attack. I hated how I looked in the mirrors, hated how the lighting made my skin look... it was just always a disaster.

Now, I just shop online and hope for the best. I've gotten a better understanding of what looks good on me and I can shop confidently, though with some hesitancy because I just can't shake the teenager out of me.

What I've learned from blogging and social media is that weddings are different all over the country. Some are extremely casual, some are in the middle, and others are really high class and formal. Here in New York, they fall into the last category. I've never been to a wedding that wasn't over the top and extremely formal. They might not be black tie or even black tie optional but they're up there.

Another week has come to an end, another 'What I Wore' Post. It's coming to you a little later in the day but that's because I was nonstop busy all weekend long; a wedding, a birthday brunch, and then I came home last night and was totally exhausted. I actually felt sick to my stomach because I was so tired... therefore, I'm writing this post on a Monday night & posting it immediately.

Last week was a short week for me; I worked Monday-Thursday and Friday was spent at the doctor's office and running some errands. I forgot to take a picture of my outfit Friday but I changed from this Target shirt and leggings to my gym clothes.

Now, here's everything else I wore!

Monday

It was another all-black Monday! I wore my trusty J.Crew Cardigan, Zella Leggings and Tommy Hilfiger Boots. I paired it with a plaid scarf I got from Nordstrom a few years ago - you can find a similar one here. I kept my cardigan buttoned all day long and I was so much more comfortable and felt a little more put together which I was thankful for.

Tuesday

American Eagle sweater (similar here), Zella leggings, and Tommy Hilfiger ankle booties -- simple and comfortable!

Wednesday

Thursday

Zella Leggings, J.Crew Shirt, and an older J.Crew cardigan (similar). Once again, I wore my Tommy Hilfiger ankle booties.

Saturday - Wedding Guest

For my friend's wedding on Saturday, I wore this Eliza J dress that had gorgeous mesh sleeves and paired it with DSW heels. The dress was super comfortable and I cannot recommend it enough!

Sunday Brunch

I didn't get a full-body picture but I wore Spanx Jeans, off the shoulder, pink Abercrombie sweater and my Jack Rogers Booties.

What did you wear this week?!

I'm going to be 25 years old in November but I have yet to hit that sweet spot where I'm getting five wedding invitations a month and going to two weddings a weekend. I attended my cousin's bridal shower and wedding last year but that's pretty much it.

A few of my sorority sisters have gotten engaged/married, but not anyone I'm super close too. That's fine with me because I'm in no rush to grow up and the sooner I can put off bridesmaids dresses and Bachelorette parties, the better!

On that note, my co-worker got engaged this summer (while she was on vacation in Japan!!!) and her festivities are starting. It's really exciting to hear about wedding planning and to actually personally know someone getting married.

Her engagement party is in a few weeks and truthfully, I have no idea what to do. Gifts? No clue what to get. Etiquette? No idea what to do. Outfit? Someone help me!

After talking it out with a few of my friends and other co-workers, it seems that for this occassion, simple is best.

But I also found this incredible style guide to help first time goers like me figure out what to wear to the wedding occassion of your choice.

Sometimes I think it's almost easier to be a dude because all you need is a tux or a suit, you just have to figure out which one is appropriate.

After all of this knowledge, I decided that I'm going with a simple, black J.Crew dress that still has the tags on it. I bought it at the beginning of the summer because I figured that I could always use a simple, black dress and I was right! (The one I have is out of stock, but here is a similar one)

Below are a few of my other picks for a Semi Formal Dressy Casual engagement party, bridal shower, wedding!

Next month I have my first wedding since I was around 10 years old. My older cousin is getting married and it's a Black Tie Affair.

This wedding has been the topic of our family conversation for months now and it's time to find a dress. Having it be not only the first wedding I've attended as an adult, but it's also a Black Tie which is enough to send me over the edge.

What does one wear to a Black Tie wedding?

Well, I've been looking obsessively over the past few weeks and found this dress at Nordstrom. I need to order it ASAP before it sells out, but just in case any of you have some weddings coming up, I rounded up some of my favorite wedding guest dresses that I found at Nordstrom.

Nordstrom is my go-to for clothes lately because I have such luck there, and it's always free shipping & returns. I'm having a love affair with Nordstrom. (this is not a sponsored post, I just really love Nordstrom)

Does anyone else have some options/suggestions for weddings? Help a sistah out!
