Over the years I have experimented with many different fitness trackers. I've used Kate Spade's SmartWatch, Fitbits, Jawbone Up (RIP to that brand), and more in between. They were all fine, I liked them enough but eventually, I got sick of using them.

They felt like a chore, an annoying thing to wear on my wrist and at some point, I just stopped wearing them every day. That is until I got the itch to start wearing one again and of course, needed a new one to go along with the renewed habit.

The want for a new fitness tracker started at the end of 2020. I wanted to keep it simple: just track my steps and my sleep. It was around the time Amazon and WW were partnering on a new tracker called 'Halo' and I immediately bought it. I was less than impressed and quickly returned it because it just wasn't my vibe. It had no screen, it was uncomfortable and it seemed a little over-complicated for my liking.

I purchased this generic one from Amazon instead, and that novelty quickly died down because it was honestly just not a good tracker and felt too bulky for my liking. However, at the start of the new year, I wanted to get back on the grind and saw that Amazon and WW partnered on a new version of the Halo called 'Halo View' and I was quickly sold.

It's been about two months of using the Halo View and I really like it! There are virtually no cons to it and I am definitely not even using it to its full potential but I figured I'd do a check-in review and let you know.

In two short months, I’ll be one year into Weight Watchers and I’m still down around 25 pounds. When I started this journey I didn’t think I’d hit that number, but as I lost the weight and the weight stayed off, I wasn’t expecting to still be at that number.

It’s been a struggle, to say the least, because I’ve been at a standstill for a while since February to be exact. I referenced this and my struggle with the Freestyle system in my last post and while I’m having slightly better luck (I lost weight two weeks ago but then quickly gained a pound back), it’s still hard.

What is different this month is that I’ve been inspired. Did I have a bag of M&Ms last week and not count the points? Yes, I did because sometimes my self-control is just not there.

However, I really made a stride in my mindset toward the program and how I eat. After discovering an online community on Instagram all about Weight Watchers (as a blogger and a social media professional, how has it taken me this long to discover this?) I’m inspired by new recipes and the idea of meal prepping.

I’ve been going to Trader Joe’s a lot more (once a week) to stock up on delicious, low point foods. I had no idea how full of Weight Watchers approved items TJ’s was! It’s amazing and so comforting knowing that.

I also have been following weight watchers hashtags and accounts to find new recipes and ways people are using their points.

In the past two weeks I’ve been making egg muffins for breakfast, cauliflower rice as a 0 point side for lunch at work, and planning on what to make for dinner and for sweet treats that are low in points.

The community on Instagram has really been so helpful in seeing that there are ways to get your snack on and eat what you crave without going overboard.

I even started my own little separate Instagram to highlight my meals (when I remember to Instagram them before eating)

This update is short and a little all over the place because I’m starving (so fitting) but basically, Weight Watchers is still working for me. I’m not gaining any weight and keeping it off, just as I have for the past few months.

I have my good days and I have my bad days. I need to learn to use my weekly points because that is what they are there for -- TO BE USED. I need to get better about tracking everything, even if I know it will put me over the daily usage (but again, weeklies are there for a reason).

Finding new recipes is really helping me and getting me excited about the program again. That being said, I will probably do 'Weight Watchers Wednesdays' a lot more than once a month, and it'll include more than an update on how I'm doing. I really want to incorporate more recipes that are low in points and in turn, low calorie but very tasty.

I hope you'll all stay tuned and continue with me on this little journey!

I've been doing Weight Watchers for nine months and have lost a total of 25 pounds. However, it has been a real struggle the past two months.

I haven't been losing weight and at a complete standstill. It's really discouraging and I'm honestly getting fed up with it.

Partially, I blame the freestyle program. I had a hard time with it when it was first introduced back in December and it's only gotten worst. I know that there are more zero point foods but not having as many points as I used too is a real problem.

I'm just always so hungry and truthfully, I cheat a lot more than I used too. I'm not as regimented as I once was because I know that if I cheat, and eat just a little of what I want that I'll still lose weight or maintain it.

I'm just not in that mindset anymore and it's really bad. I think I'm discouraged because I'm losing weight and then I eat how I want.

I am also exercising more; I go to the gym at least twice a week and then I try to do my pilates machine every night for a half hour. That is really helping and making a difference.

It's important to note that I haven't gained any weight so that is very, very good. It means that Weight Watchers is still worth it and still working, it's just that I'm not in the best mindset. I do think I am losing inches because I look skinnier and look like I'm still losing weight.

Sometimes it's not all about the number on the scale.

I think if you're looking for a change of lifestyle and a healthy way to lose weight, Weight Watchers is still the way to go. I would've never lost this much weight without this program.

I am trying my best, and I am going to try to be better in the coming days and weeks.

I've never been a fitness guru and by no means am I one now. But, I have become slightly more conscience of food and excerise. I'm actually happy with how I look, for once in my life, but even then, I may not be as healthy as I should so of course there is always room for improvement.

I'm also someone who is into the latest trend and loves to shop. I love gimmicky things and if people are talking about it, I need it. Give me the latest technology, lipstick, shoes... just give me it all.

Combine that with my want to be healthier, in all aspects, and you've got a fitness tracker.

I've seen this trend time and time again and was always curious but honestly, they were too expensive. I didn't want to bother with Fitbit or Nike Flex Band, they looked a little too complicated and were too bulky to be worn for the every day, in my opinion.

I knew when I got a fitness tracker I'd get the JawboneUp. It was the first one I had heard about and I had a few friends who had it so I was aware of how it worked.

In mid January I saw that JawboneUp was on sale, on Target, Best Buy, and a few other retailers. I knew that this was my chance. It retails for $130 and I wasn't about that life but I could swing $60 no problem.

As if the shopping gods were watching over me, no retailer had my wrist size in the color black (I wanted black because I thought it'd be better for everyday but now I wish I had gotten grey). I was disappointed but found a solution.

I checked Amazon because why not and in turn, they had a black JawboneUp in a size medium wrist for $45 with free shipping. I never ordered something so fast.

I've been using it since then and honestly, it's so freaking cool. I'm obsessed. At first it was weird to wear something on my wrist everyday but I've gotten used to it.

JawboneUp tracks your sleep and the number of steps you take per day. You have to sync the bracelet with your phone (after you download the app) to see your progress and you also have to charge the band every 7-9 days.

You could also count calories using the app but after reading some reviews, I found that using MyFitnessPal and syncing it with your JawboneUp app is much better. MyFitnessPal has a lot more food options when tracking calories and having it sync with the Jawbone app is painless.

The JawboneUp app is very sleek, easy to read and keep track of everything. You can create teams with your Facebook friends, Twitter followers, or contacts to encourage each other and see how other people are doing with their journey.

Sleep tracker

I was first really intrigued by JawboneUp and fitness trackers in general because I sometimes have trouble sleeping and I thought it'd be cool to see how much sleep I'm getting and how many times I wake up during the night. I was blown away by how accurate this bad boy was. It tells you how long it took to fall asleep, how many hours of sound sleep you got, etc. It's so cool and honestly, I've seen such a difference in how I feel each morning after getting the right amount of sleep.

One of my favorite parts about this fitness tracker is how it gives you "Today I Will" which are different goals based on your progress. It holds you accountable for different items, such as eating 25g of fiber or having a set bedtime. It's so cool and just helps you become that much healthier and develop different routines.

Using the JawboneUp for the past month/month and a half has been awesome. I'm much more aware of how many steps I take, how much I'm working out, sleeping, and how many glasses of water I drink. You could even track your mood!

I'm really obsessed and cannot get enough of this little device. I think it's so cool, so worth it, and really helps steer you in the right direction for a healthier lifestyle.
