I haven't done an updated makeup storage post in years.

My original post was more of a review of the Alex Drawers from Ikea, which I still use but since I moved, the way I store my makeup has changed. Mostly because I have more space, and I have a lot more makeup.

With Spring being this week, I figured it was a great time to talk about organization. Organizing is one of my favorite things in the world. It calms me down and clears my mind.

I was super anxious over the weekend and felt like I needed to do something so I went through my closet, got rid of some things and reorganized it. I felt like a new person. That being said, I'm also planning to redo my room a little so once that is done, I'll do a little updated room tour.

Now, for the real reason we're here -- makeup.

My beauty bug has really subsided in recent months. Nothing was inspiring me, I wasn't wearing that much makeup and just wasn't feeling anything new. I'm also still going on my no buy, which I'll do another post on once it's over when Lent ends on March 29th.

However, in the past few weeks I've hit my beauty reset button so this is a perfect time to do this post!

Let's start with my lipsticks.




I have a shelving unit in the corner of my room, and store my lipsticks on a shelf there because I have too many. I keep my liquid lipsticks, glossse, chubby crayons, in a variety of different containers and empty candle holders.


On the other side of the shelf, I have all my perfumes, including mini samples that I get from Sephora orders.



Then, my regular lipsticks sit on a spinning tower on the cubby shelves that hold my handbags. This makes for easy access and adorable decor.



Now we move over to my desk area where one half is reserved for beauty stuff.

This little tray is a new addition to my desk because I felt like I needed something to contain the overflow of beauty stuff that was on my desk. It has been amazing for organizing myself and it acts as a little decor that I love.




Here, I keep the skincare I'm using, any supplments that I'm taking, and my makeup brushes. I also have some pretty makeup prodcuts like my Huda Beauty Foundation, my YSL Touche Eclat Blur and the Herbivorve Rose Spray.

I also have a little ring dish that my friend got me for Christmas that I keep lipgloss, pins, or hairties in as a touch of decor.


It's time for the big guy -- my Alex Ikea Drawers. Where I keep everything is the same as it was a few years ago, but what's on top has changed a bit.



I have an acrylic drawer set that I bought off of Amazon and it's amazing. I personally do not think you need an expensive Glambox or any other name brand acrylic drawer set -- Amazon is where it's at.

In there, I have my items spilt up into 6 sections:

• The first drawer is where I have my brow products and all my concealers. 
• The second drawer I have some random makeup products and then mascara
• The third drawer is filled with all kinds of random makeup products like lip balms, mini beauty blenders, and eyeshadow crayons.

When I started working at a beauty company, I knew I was going to acccumlate a ridiculous amount of make-up. My beauty obsession already warranted a ton of make-up that I didn't need. My mom was getting tired of me getting packages delivered to the house filled with make-up I didn't need.

The storage situation was getting out of hand. I had no place to put everything in my shared bedroom with my 19-year-old sister. It was starting to stress me out.

I knew when I got my first paycheck from my new job, I was going to splurge on the Alex Drawers from Ikea. These are the famous drawers that every Youtube beauty guru has to hold their *ridiculous* make-up collections.

My mom was trying to sway me from getting these drawers because they were expensive and I'd have to put them together but I was adamant about getting these particular drawers. I knew what they looked liked, I knew that they were perfect for make-up, and I like to stick to what I know.

The drawers cost $80 but with shipping it came out to around $111. I knew that when I received them I'd have to put them together but my goodness, it was a task.

It took me two days and two big mistakes to put these bad boys together. I used little to no help from my mom and I was so proud of myself for completing it! I lost my cool a few times but I mean, who wouldn't? I'm a very impatient, easily frustrated person, and I am not handy, whatsoever. These types of things never work out well for me, I'm lucky if I can tie a knot in a bathing suit top... seriously, I'm incapable of a lot of things so being able to put a drawer unit together was incredibly satisfying.

It did however, take a few mistakes to get it right. I couldn't get the drawers into the right slots and I actually had to force the top drawer in, and now it doesn't open all the way but too bad. I also slide in one of the drawers the wrong way so the white side isn't facing up. The rest of the drawers worked out well though.

I didn't really think about how I would organize all my make-up and was going to leave the task for another day but after I put the drawers together, I kind of just wanted to be done with it.


These are the inside of my drawers, an organized mess. I was originally storing my make-up in old Birchboxes (still am storing some stuff in them) until I got some acrylic organizers from TJ Maxx.

Side note: I know I have A LOT of make-up, not more than my favorite Youtube bloggers but too much for a normal person.

I really do think these are great drawers. They are small enough to fit in tight spaces but big enough in width & depth to fit everything you need. They are pretty perfect for make-up or even clothes. I would LOVE to get more of these or more in the Alex series from Ikea  once I move out and get my own apartment like a real adult. I will though, hire someone to put everything together for me LOL.

After not buying *too much stuff for the past few months, the moment I got my first big girl paycheck, I did some damage.

I've since been doing damage and I need to stop. I have a post coming soon all about my shopping addicition because I am pretty sure it's a real problem I need help with. Maybe my mom has to control my finances? I don't know but something needs to be done.

This is some stuff I bought a few weeks ago after I first got paid and I justified them in more ways than one. The beauty products are things I bought about a month ago but never blogged about because #bloggerfail.



IKEA Alex Drawers: Since working for a beauty brand, I have acculumated a massive amount of make-up. I feel like one of those Youtube vloggers that have a horrific amount of make-up. I already had a lot of make-up and have just gotten a stupid amount the past month. I didn't have a place to store everything and I'm psycho about space & organization so I needed something. I know every vlogger uses the Alex Drawers so I figured that was a great place to start. I put together the drawers BY MYSELF!!!!!!! over the course of two days. It was difficult and I screwed up some drawers but it turned out fine. UGH, I love them & I'll be doing a full post on them & how I organize my make-up.



BaubleBar Teardrop Cuff: I haven't purchased a BaubleBar piece in MONTHS and I knew I needed something new. I've been wearing one particular BaubleBar bracelet for the past few weeks and I knew I wanted something else. After having a cuff that I wore nonstop in my first & only Rocksbox, I knew I wanted a cuff. The Lighting Teardrop Cuff caught my eye and I just had to have it. It's so comfortable and light weight, you forget you're wearing it. I love wearing bracelets but I hate when I'm typing and they dangle against the keyboard. That's why a tight cuff is perfect for everyday wear.



Kate Spade Cedar Street Marieta: Over the past few months, I haven't been using my big Kate Spade wallet, mostly to bring back and forth to work. I didn't see the point and it was weighing my bag down. I was using a coin purse my mom got me for Christmas but I wanted something a little more sophiscated. I wanted a nice little wallet that was light weight and portable. I decided on Kate Spade (because I don't buy anything else basically) and found this adorable little card holder. It's not really a wallet, it only has one compartment but it's amazing. I have been obsessed with it & I'm so glad I got it in red! It's so different from what I usually buy and I'm glad I stepped outside my comfort zone. It's easy to find in my bag and it's so light. It's amazing and I love the tininess of it.

Maybelline FIT ME Matte & Poreless Foundation: I was in need of another foundation and I really wanted to try this one or the Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Liquid Foundation but it was $12 and I wasn't in the mood to shell out that money. I had heard people going insane over the Maybelline FIT ME Matte & Poreless Foundation. I had been curious so I decided to pick it up. It has quickly become one of my favorites. I got the shade 235 which probably is a tad dark for me but it'll be awesome in the summer when I'm tan. It's very liquidy but not too liquidy. It is medium-full coverage and I can see a noticeable difference in my skin when I wear it. It stays on pretty long too and it just makes my skin look fresh and flawless. It's not too matte, it seems to be a demi matte finish so it allows your skin to breath & doesn't look like you're wearing a mask. I'm addicted.

Milani Matte Lipstick in Orchid: When I saw this lipstick in the Milani display a few months back, I impulse bought it. I had been wanting to experiment with other lipsticks in bright, bold colors and I thought this would be a great place to start. I had seen a lot of reviews on these lipsticks and I already love Milani
lipsticks so I knew it would be good. Orchid is the hottest, Barbie pink I have ever seen and I was a little scared to wear it. I wore it to my sorority formal last month where I wore a white dress and it looked amazing. It's a great statement lip alternative to red and it's perfect for summer. I will definitely be wearing this more in the coming months, especially when I have a tan!

I feel like I've purchased some more things but I will feature them in more posts like this coming up. I like to keep things I've purchased around the same time in the same post--that's the type A in me!
