Monthly Muse: January 2023 Favorites

The first month of the new year is officially complete! In my opinion, it went by in a mix of slow and fast. It feels like New Years was a thousand days ago but also the beginning of the month feels like it was just yesterday. Time is so funny and as I get older I find that it goes by more and more quickly. 

January 2023 was a weird one; I was both oddly calm and then an anxious/depressed mess for most of it. My mental health hit a weird decline over the past few weeks and I've been experiencing a lot of panic attacks and mood swings. It's weird because I haven't felt this bad in months so it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm feeling ok now but it was a weird way to kick off the new year.

Because of that, I don't think I was as strong with my goals as I would've liked to been during the first few weeks but I'm not going to let that stop me. I'm going to just do my best, start from wherever I left off and make every day count.

Maybe I will do a monthly check in on my goals to hold myself accountable...

Anyways, let's dive right into my favorites of the first month of the year!

Jo Malone Pillow Spray

If you didn't know, I work for Estee Lauder and get a lovely discount on all the brands that ELC owns. One of those brands are Jo Malone and during one of their special employee holiday sales, I decided to pick up this pillow spray.

I use the Slip Silk pillow spray but it's almost finished so for less than $20, I bought the Jo Malone Moonlit Camomile Pillow Mist. It's the most lovely little blue bottle that looks great displayed on my night stand, and it truly smells outstanding. The camomile is the epitome of relaxation and I do notice a difference in the quality of my sleep when I spray this on my pillows and sheets. This is probably one of the best pillow mists I've ever used, and I've used so many of them.

It's the perfect little nightly ritual and I am living for it. 

Mini TheraGun

I had been toying with the idea of a TheraGun for a while now and when my sister heard me say I wanted it, she told her boyfriend and he bought it for me for Christmas. It was the nicest, most delightful surprise and such a useful gift.

If you don't know, a Thera Gun is a massage gun that can be used by anyone and everyone. It's designed to relieve pain in an easy manner and the brand has multiple versions so you should have no issue finding one that is suitable for your needs.

I get incredibly sore on a daily basis and go to the chiropractor once a month for adjustments on my back, wrist and jaw. I've always had very bad wrist pain since I was 16 and having the TheraGun has been a real help. 

I didn't think I needed a big gun, the mini one works perfectly and is very compact, which is nice. My chiropractor uses the larger one on me during our sessions so I knew I would respond well to it.

The mini gun has three speeds, stays charged for weeks, and is strong enough to massage any part of your body. When my legs or back or sore from sitting at work or walking a lot, a few pulses of this gun feel incredible. 

If you're someone who experiences chronic physical pain or who does strenuous workouts, I recommend trying the TheraGun (of course after speaking with your doctor).

FlipStick Phone Case

This is such a random Amazon purchase but one I've wanted for a while. This little tool sticks to the back of your phone case and when it's open, you could stick it to any surface and it becomes your own personal tripod. It's so confusing as to how it can stick to any surface (walls, cars, mirrors, cabinets, etc) and then easily come off even though the phone stays extremely still and firm to the surface. It's like magic, honestly. 

This comes in handy so much for filming videos, doesn't damage my walls or surfaces and is just the perfect little gadget. 

By the Fireplace Candle

By the Fireplace is hands down my favorite scent from Replica and my favorite cold weather fragrance. I cannot get enough of it and it brings me an immense amount of joy. Because of that, I had to get the candle to make my entire home smell like the best fragrance ever and my goodness, it is delightful.

It's a very sleek, beautiful candle to look at and then when you light it, it just fills the room with the musky, fiery scent without being too overpowering. It's the perfect candle to light on a cold winter day and makes me feel all cozy inside.
