I haven't done one of these in a while, mostly because I haven't bought a new nail polish. If you haven't caught on, I really only do Manicure Mondays when I have a new polish to show... it seems only appropriate.

On Thursday night, when I decided to repaint my nails, I was looking through my nail polish collection and I don't know if I ever showed this look.

As winter dwindles to an end (or so we can hope), I want to hang onto my dark polish colors for as long as possible. I hadn't played around with any grays this season so I broke out my Deborah Lippmann nail polish in "Planet Rock."

I saw a trick on Instagram that says to apply a base of color, a top coat (I use Essie's Good to Go), two layers of color, and then another coat of the top coat.

This evidently prevents chipping and makes your manicure last longer. It's been 24 hours and so far so good... usually I have at least a little chipping at this point so we'll put it to the test!

I've been on a huge glitter topcoat recently, I don't know why, but I have a few of them (two being Deborah Lippmann) and I decided to glitz up the dark gray with some pink shimmer. This isn't a heavy, chunky glitter. I applied one-two coats of it to get a true glitter look.

The glitter top coat is called "Baby I'm A Star."

I love the formulation of these Deborah Lippmann polishes... I mean they are pretty pricey but I have mini bottles that came in a set that I won during a raffle contest. They're super smooth, easy to apply and have a great brush. There's really nothing bad to say about it.

I'm just kind of obsessed with my nails this week, even though it's something simple and something I've probably done before.

What's on your nails this Monday?

This week I stepped away from my typical Essie manicure and went with another brand, a little more up scale and one that I've been dying to try out for a while.

I've only heard good things about Deborah Lippman nail polish and I've been lusting after them on the Nordstrom website for a solid year. I could just never justify paying $20 for a bottle of nail polish.

About two weeks ago when my chapter held our Phi Sigma Sigma Centennial celebration, one of our advisors bought some items to be raffled off to raise money for the chapter. One of those was a three piece Deborah Lippman set of nail polish. I put my eggs in one basket and surprisingly won the raffle!

I finally painted my nails with two of the shades on Friday; the base color is a greige (grey and beige) called Planet Rock and the other shade was a multi color glitter top coat called "Baby I'm a Star".

The formula of the polish is pretty wonderful; you could tell that it's more expensive than Essie. It feels more expensive. It glides on beautifully, dries quickly, and one coat was more than enough to become opaque. I applied two anyway because I'm used to that.

The top coat had the perfect amount of glitter in each stroke and I was super happy with how my nails came out.

The only problem is that my nails chipped the day after I painted them. I was disappointed that the polish didn't hold up. I don't know why, it might've been a too thick manicure or it may have me or the formula isn't as good as I thought.

The other polish in the three piece set was another glitter top coat. This one was pure silver and called "When Lighting Strikes". I haven't tried it out yet so I will keep you updated on how that manicure turns out!

Maybe sometimes expensive items aren't as good as the cheaper ones! Back to Essie it is!

What is your favorite expensive nail polish?

Usually I am so excited for my Birchbox to arrive but this month, when I took a sneak peek at my items before the box arrived, I was a bit disappointed.

There's usually at least one product that wows me but this month, it kind of fell short.

I'm pretty sure either in November or December's box I got a shampoo so I wasn't really excited about this one. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it works good. It's also a pretty decent sample size so that's a plus also.

This is an everyday moisturizer that doubles as a foundation primer and make up remover. Interesting. I haven't used it yet but it's a rather small bottle so we'll see how it goes.

I have so many perfume samples it's ridiculous. Usually I love the perfumes Birchbox gives me but Shimmer is definitely not one of them. It has a weird, almost too sweet smell and I really do not enjoy it.

I received a highlighter in one of my other boxes of the same brand so I was pretty excited about this one. I used this once and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It's a great color; almost like a burnt red and it has good texture. This was my favorite item in the box.

This is a nail polish remover mitt that is supposed to clean all ten nails. I haven't used it yet but it seems pretty good; Deborah Lippmann is a great brand so I'm sure it won't disappoint.

This box wasn't a complete failure but it definitely wasn't one of my favorites. Hopefully next month will be better!
