I have lived in New York my entire life. Queens is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Manhattan and honestly, I have not taken advantage of it as much as I should have.

I have always adored Manhattan and the awe behind it's eyes. I am fascinated that people from all over the world come to Manhattan to visit and see what I see every single day. Whenever I drive into the city and see the skyline, I am awestruck.

How lucky I am to live in the greatest city in the world (hey, that's what people call it, don't they?)

The fact that I go into Manhattan every day has really had me thinking lately... why don't I do "touristy" stuff, ever? I've never been to the Statue of Liberty, or the top of the Empire State Building. Ok, so maybe that's a little too touristy but there are so many things that I want to do in NYC that I never, ever get around to doing.

Most are based around food, or shopping, but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

Visit Central Park: I'm 99% sure I have never been inside Central Park. As a New Yorker, I'm sure that is not acceptable.

Laudree: I love macaroons more than life and I need to eat one from the original French Bakery on Madison Ave. I've seen so many photos of it and it's the cutest little bakery-- I need to get my booty there.

Have lunch at the Plaza: I see a bunch of people always doing this and it looks like the cutest, most quaint outing on a nice afternoon. Please, someone come with me.

Viral Food Places: Black Tap's Milkshakes, Dominique Ansel's cronut... some of the best food that has gone viral over the Internet is in NYC and I haven't had of them. I need to get my hands on some.

9/11 Memorial: I've talked about my experience with 9/11 and this year, for the first time, I went to see the Freedom Tower and the two waterfalls that honor those who died during the attacks. It was really emotional and beautiful at the same time, but I really want to go into the museum and explore the history that I lived through.

Brooklyn Bridge: I'm terrified of bridges but I so want to take a nice, sunny afternoon walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. It's so beautiful and to see the skyline that up close and personal is probably amazing.

There are a lot of other activities I want to do, places I want to eat, and places to visit in my backyard of Manhattan but I think this is a good start!

What are your favorite things to do in your city?

It was almost a year ago that I finally sat down and posted in 101 in 1001 list. A list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. The idea was originally inspired by Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling and it was something I had been wanting to do for a while.

I still have more than a year to accomplish everything and I'm pretty confident that I can get almost everything done. (October 4th, 2017 is the end date) I figured since it's been almost a year and I've accomplished a lot already, I wanted to give an update on how I'm doing!

I encourage everyone to create their own list. It's sort of like a bucket list but with mundane and extraordinary things all mixed together. From saving money to getting published to visiting museums,  I put everything I could think of on this list.

I'm really proud of everything I've done in the past year and I hope I can achieve more in the next!

This bad boy has been on my to-do list for a solid 6 months and I finally got around to finishing it. Honestly, thinking of 101 things I want to do is really difficult. I had a few things that I knew were going on the list, around 50 things that came easily, but the other 51....not so easy.

I looked at other 101 lists because if you didn't know, this is a huge deal in the blogger world. Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling started this idea a few years ago and it has taken over the internet.

When I graduated college, I knew I wanted to make one of these lists to keep a set of goals for the first few post graduate years. With the new year just a few days in, I knew I wanted to post it ASAP.

Having a list of tangible goals makes me feel calmer somehow. It's something to work toward, something to aim for...it makes me feel a lot better.

You all know I've had a real difficult time these past months, leaving college and entering the real world so I feel like this list is really going to help me get out of my comfort zone and do some things I've always wanted to do.

I finished it over the weekend but started it in October so some of these have already happened but I'm SO excited to post it and share it with all of you!

I hope this list inspires you to make your own list, something to set your sights on and go get! In 2015, get out of your comfort zone and do something you've always wanted to do...no matter how small or big it is!

End date: October 4th, 2017

What do you guys think? Is it possible? Have you done any of these before? I'm super excited to get started and cross some stuff off this hefty list!

College Bucket List

in , , by RoyallyPink, 7:30 AM
In the past, I wrote an article for my campus newspaper, The Ionian, about the things freshmen should do at Iona College; everything from the places they should eat, the clubs they should join, and the late night experiences they should have.

The past two weekends for me have been glorious. I finally feel like I'm having a real college experience and it sucks that it's happening at the end of my junior year. Because of all the fun I'm having and the other part of college, the school work, other responsibilities have taken a back seat but I wouldn't change it for anything.

I never want college to end.

(not actually, just a lyric from a song)

It got me thinking (in true Carrie Bradshaw fashion) what are some things that young, college students should experience while away at school.

1. Stay out all night

It might sound so cliche but I feel like every student should stay out till sunrise at least once, if not every weekend of their college career. Okay, maybe not sunrise but party till the bar closes, go hard or go home. This is the only time of your life where it will acceptable to partake in these activities.

2. LND

When you're out till 3am with your best friends, there is nothing better than some LND (late night diner). You would be surprised to see the faces around in the wee hours of the morning, swallowing chicken fingers and fries in the booth next to you.

3. Do something worthwhile

Your time in college is not just meant for partying; this is a time to find yourself and see what life is really about. Make your time at college memorable in the daytime activities you do; join a service project, go on a mission trip, partake in something meaningful that you will look back on with a smile and a warm heart.

4. Join a Greek organization

I am the poster child for Greek life; being on two Greek executive boards will do that to do. Greek life is the best thing to ever happen to me. I am grateful every day for my sisters and the wonderful people I have met through my organization. Greek life isn't for everyone but there is usually a place for you in some organization. You'll never know if you don't try.

5. Daydrink

Here we go again, typical college lifestyle; you haven't lived until you've gotten out of bed at 11am, got dressed, and went out drinking by noon. It's not the most unusual thing on a college campus but it usually ends in some sort of disaster but an awesome story.

6. Study abroad

My time for studying abroad has passed but a lot of my friends have done it and they have fully enjoyed it. They said it was unlike anything they have ever experienced in their life and advised everyone to follow in their footsteps. You don't have to go overseas for an entire semester, a summer program of one month will do just fine.

7. Go to a themed party

Toga, high school sterotype, preppy, ABC--it doesn't matter the theme, just plan something outrageous with your friends, dress up, get sloppy and look at the regretful pictures on Facebook the next morning. It will all be worth it.

I've come to realize in the past few weeks that college is unlike anything in the entire world. It is not your normal experience; no one understands college the way we do. We live on our own, go to class, party, go to meetings, and go to work.

We are adults living in a bubble of our own where we make the rules and we run the world. We can do whatever we want, while abiding by the rules of the school of course.

I just can't believe that I have two semesters left of living out this fantasy life. I am making the most of it and everyone else should too.
