2023 is a year that brought a ton of change, new experiences, and a new sense of self. I feel like I really came into my own, figured out what I want out of life and I should make that happen.
I settled into my 'new' job and really took hold of my responsibilities and projects. I felt more content, more at ease in my work. In 2023, I moved into my own apartment and for the first time since college, lived on my own. Having my own apartment has really helped catapult me into my next phase of life and it helped make me feel different, more grown up.
It was a slight adjustment, and was accompanied by some other changes but I know it was the right move and every day when I wake up here, I'm grateful.
With all that change, those new experiences and new attitudes comes other things...material things...that I tried and loved. They made my life better and were truly bright spots of my days. From home items to lifestyle, these are my favorite items of 2023.
Fireplace TV Stand
I don't know when the obsession with fireplaces started but over the years, I couldn't shake the fact that I go crazy for a fireplace. They're cozy, special and add something to a home that I couldn't get out of my head. When I realized that companies made TV stands with electric fireplaces, I knew I needed one. When I decided to move into my own space a fireplace TV stand was the first thing I was going to buy. I bought this one from Wayfair (which was a pain to put together) but there are so many on the market that would do the trick. It is hands down my favorite piece in my home because not only does it add cozy and inviting ambiance, it actually gives off heat with the flick of a switch. I'm obsessed and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Keurig K-Cafe System
I wrote about the Keurig K-Cafe in my November favorites so it might be cheating that I'm classifying it as a favorite of the year but I can't help it... this coffee system is my favorite one I've ever used. It's versatile, customizable, and gives off the most delicious cup of coffee. Plus, you can make tea, hot chocolate, foam milk, and more with the push of a button. If you're in the market for a new coffee maker I highly recommend looking into the Keurig K-Cafe because it can pretty much make you any hot drink your heart desires.
Prada Key Holder
This is a very random item but it has brought me a ton of joy and good use this year. When I moved into my own apartment, I suddenly had a lot more keys and I was tired of carrying around a big keychain. In the past I've had Louis Vuitton key holders that I didn't love but this Prada keyholder feels different. I don't know if it's the color, the size or the leather but I love it so much. It's compact, chic and timeless, and holds everything I need. I purchased it on eBay over the summer and haven't looked back since.
Nook Glowlight 4 Plus
This e-reader took over my life in 2023 and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's so much better than my Kindle -- larger, smoother, lighter, and overall I like Barnes & Noble more. I did an entire review of it a few months ago where I went through all the features. If you need a new e-reader I cannot recommend the nook Glowlight 4 Plus enough.
