Showing posts with label favorite books of the year

 In 2022 I read 91 books, with a goal of around 70... I figured in 2023 I would set the goal of 90 books to see if I could match my best year yet. Once February rolled around I figured out that wasn't going to be possible.

I kept abandoning books I wasn't feeling and couldn't find my groove with anything I was reading; I realized that I wasn't going to hit a goal of 90 and decreased that to 70...which by May I knew I wasn't going to hit because I was reading only 3 books a month.

I decreased my goal once again to 55 and I'm happy to report that I hit that goal at the beginning of December...and then a few days ago, hit 60 books for 2023.

While I've read a lot of books that didn't live up to my expectations, I read so many books that I loved deeply... and almost all of them were released this year. Let's get into them!

My reading goals have been off the charts the past few years and it makes me so happy! I love reading so much, it brings me so much joy and is such an essential part of my mental health/self-care routine. I am nothing without reading.

This year, I set a goal of 75 books. Last year, I set a goal of 60 books and I read 88. This year, I hit my goal around August and was pleased with that... it didn't look like I was going to exceed last year's goal actual number because truthfully, the books I was reading this year were not hitting as much as year's past.

I don't know if I was reading too many books, or trying to read genres that I didn't love, or was just picking books that didn't align with what I was looking for. I 'DNFed' more books this year than ever before and I'm semi-proud of that. I'm glad I didn't force myself to read books I didn't love.

In the end though, I'll be ending the year reading 90 books. I'm so proud of that and I'm so excited to discuss my favorite books of 2022. This will be books I read this year, not books that were released in 2022.

Let's get into it!

Last year was the year where I got even more involved in reading and this year, is when it became my safe haven. I used reading as a coping mechanism for my anxiety and depression; I used it as a way to turn off the television and put my phone down;
