As mentioned in my last Manicure Monday, I needed to try more polishes from the Slumber Party collection from Essie. I was in need of a new hot pink polish and "Slumber Party On" was that color. It really jumped out at me when browsing online and when I saw it in person, I was in love.
It's a super bright, hot pink -- perfect for the spring and summer. I also feel as though hot pink is a color that can be worn year round, even though it is very bright. Slumber Party Onn definitely falls into that all year round category in my opinion.
Note: the color looks more purple than hot pink on camera... not sure why!
The formula for this was really good; I was impressed with how evenly it applied and how it wasn't patchy at all. It's very similar to the formula of Wink of Sleep which makes sense since they are from the same collection.
The color in person, after first application, was really bright and beautiful, a true pink. However, after a few days, I noticed that the polish started to look a little dull. It lost it's shine and looked old... it was strange as I've never had that happen to me before. It definitely made me like the polish less. I'm going to test out reapplying a top coat halfway through the week, or even using a different top coat at initial application to see if that helps the shine.
The chipping was very minimal which is always a plus. At the time when I removed the polish, I had very little chipping and it was only at the tip of the nails.
I did like this nail polish, the color more than the formula (mostly because of the lack of shine) but I'll surely be rocking hot pink nails until September!
