We're one day into 2018 and so far, so good. Let's see if that keeps!

I have not had the best few years; there's been a lot of personal heartaches, family issues, and just a lot of conflict in my life. I've been struggling to find myself and to really be content in my life. I haven't been happy, I haven't been healthy, and it's just been a hard few years. If I'm being honest, I've had a hard 10 years but I won't push it.

I just always feel like I don't have luck on my side; if something bad can go wrong, it does. It's one thing after another and I have never felt like I have room to breathe. It's just a constant barrad of hits and struggles and I'd be lying if I said it didn't get me down a lot... if I didn't spend days feeling sorry for myself.

Sometimes when I say I had a hard week, it's because of things I don't feel comfortable voicing in a public forum. That's just the cold, hard truth... everyone has things they don't want to talk about and it just so happens that it happens to me a lot.

Well, I have a good feeling about 2018 and I'm really hoping that this is the year that everything turns around. I need some good luck, some guidance, and just some good old-fashioned happiness. I really hope this year can bring that for me.

That being said, I wanted to round up my goals (not resolutions) for the year but also take a look back on 2017 and see what the year did bring me... because there were a few highlights. Also, it's a good time to look back at what I said I would do in 2017...

2018 Goals

1. Finish Writing My Book: I have a few chapters of 2 different books written and I barely wrote this year. It's been my dream forever to publish a book and I said I would do it last year but that didn't happen. Let's hope that I can stick with it this year.

2. Go to the Gym Once a Week After Work: I am exhausted after work, so exhausted that sometimes I can't even open my laptop to blog. All I want to do is lay in bed and watch TV but I'm vowing to try to get to the gym at least once a week after work. I only go to the gym on the weekends so getting there once more would be good for me.

3. Stop Shopping, Start Saving: I have been off the rails with shopping the 2nd half of the year. I was good throughout the summer but once fall hit, I went bananas. Now, I need to really stop. I'm 25 years old and need to be responsible. I don't need another Kate Spade handbag or another notebook, I need to lay off and really save my money... or at least be a little more responsible. This went into effect after Christmas and so far, the past few days I've been good!

4. Be published at least once a week: I amped up my writing in 2017 but I want to take it a step further. I want to try to be published somewhere (other than the blog) at least once a week. If I can't do once a week, once every two weeks is fine by me.

2017 Accomplishments

1. Lost 20+ pounds: Weight loss is a resolution that is super cliche and I stopped making it a long time ago. However, this year I reached my breaking point and accomplished something I never thought possible-- losing over 20 pounds. Now, I gained some back during the holidays but I'm very confident I'll get it back down and lose even more. It was one of my proudest moments of my life.

2. Freelance Writing: As I said above, I really amped it up with my freelance writing in 2017 and I was so happy about that. I even achieved one of my dreams of being published in POPSUGAR and that was truly a surreal moment. I wrote for HuffPost, OOONY, and PizzaBottle, consistently so that is super exciting. I want to take it to the next level this year!

3. Royally Pink: I think I did a good job on the blog this year. I got more sponsorships, went to more events, and was even interviewed about social media. I also started my Youtube channel and it's been such a positive experience. I was so happy with everything on the blog this year (I hope you were too!)

*When looking at my analytics for the year, I see that some of my older blog posts from years prior are still ringing true, like my Kate Spade vs FitBit post as well as Best Tote Bags which was published in 2013!!

The most read post of 2017 was my Manicure Monday Caffeine Infused Nail Polish.

*I did another best tote bags for 2017 and that was the 2nd highest read post of the year!

The product you loved the most on Royally Pink this year? The Kate Spade Cameron Street Maise!

I am excited to see what 2018 holds for me personally and professionally! Thank you for always reading, commenting, following. This year is 6 years of Royally Pink and it just overjoys me that I am able to still be here, in my little corner of the internet!
