With the start of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC last week, all I have been able to think about is fashion. Combine that with the start of the Fall fashion season and you've got one love sick 20 something.

Fashion was never something that was ultra important to me. My mother and sister were the fashionistas of the family and I trailed behind, happy in my sweat pants and out dated graphic tee. I dressed for comfort, aside from when my mom would make me wear an uncomfortable dress or pair of pants.

Don't get me wrong, I looked nice and presentable in my clothes but trends were never my number one priority. My motto was that if I liked it, I would wear it.

That still rings true today but as I grew older and got more in touch with fashion, I began to enjoy those trends a little bit more.

That being said, I am counting down the days till cooler weather, sweaters and skinny jeans. I can't wait to throw on a pair of riding boots, a cardigan, and a scarf. Fall is my ideal season and to me, there is nothing better than the fashion of fall.

This season I feel like there are so many drastic changes from last season; I've been keeping up with many of the trends and buying some (when I can) and keeping the others in my shopping carts online.

1. Beanies

I've been seeing these everywhere and thank goodness I'm already ahead of the curve--I've had a knit beanie in my drawer for the past year and a half. I love hats and wish that I didn't feel so silly wearing them but I think I could definitely pull off a knit beanie on a chill fall morning.

2. Emerald Green

I love dark colors, especially black, but sometimes I like to throw in an actual color, like a deep navy or purple. This fall it's all about the emerald green and this excites me more than I thought it would. I've never been a huge fan of the color green but this deep, rich almost hunter green speaks to me. I need something emerald green ASAP.

3. Oversized Clutch

My handbag obsession is coming back into full force with the trendy large clutch. I carry around an obnoxious amount of stuff in my bag so a clutch is always out of the question for me. I love that clutches are in with a huge improvement in size. I may not love not having a shoulder strap but I could deal. I'm in love with this Rebecca Minkoff oversized leopard clutch.

4. Printed Pants

I've always wanted to pull off printed pants but I always felt strange since my thighs are not as skinny as I would like them to be. This season though, I may just have to splurge and get over my body conscious mind and get a pair. I especially love Kate Hudson's pants in the Ann Taylor Fall 2013 Ad campaign--so cute!

5. Oversized Sweaters

I think this may be my favorite trend this season. I love a cozy sweater that can be fashionable but comfortable all at the same time. The fact that it's effortlessly chic is an added bonus. Someone give me one of these!

There are so many other trends that I want to get my hands on, like chic sneakers, men's watches, silk scarves, and a tuxedo blazer. I just really want to be a complete fashionista and take control of my wardrobe for once in my life.

I think I'm well on my way.

What are your favorite fall fashion trends?
