Hello Royally Pink readers!
I’m Jacky and I blog over at Keep Calm and Blog On. I’m a 24 year old graduate student and teacher who blogs about dating, dieting, and all the crazy things a twenty-something faces in between. I currently live in New York, but spent the past two years living and working in Boston for a travel company. Through our mutual blogging network, Briana and I discovered that we both share an unhealthy obsession for all things British. So, while she is off on her retreat this week, I’m stepping in to give you a dose of Royal. Without further ado, and in no particular order, I give you…
KEEP CALM’S TOP TEN FAVORITE THINGS TO COME OUT OF ENGLAND:
- Hunter Boots: Snow, sleet, rain, or hail – these babies have kept me warm and dry throughout many a New England winter. Not only are they super cute, but I’m not afraid to run through puddles or get them dirty. Totally worth the $125 investment.
- Harry Potter: Nerd alert! I recently wrote a post about all of the Harry Potter filming sites you can visit while in London (you can read about it here). I don’t care how cool you are, everyone has a soft spot in their heart for Harry Potter. If you haven’t read it yet, we’ll forgive you, just get on that. If you need inspiration, check out Muggle Hustle, a hysterical blog written by a 25 year old male reading the series for the first time.
- Downton Abbey: I still haven’t gotten over the heartbreaking season finale from last year, but this show is just amazing. The costumes, the characters, and the drama… you can thank me later.
- Barbour Coats: Practical, fashionable, and very British. I’m saving up to buy a new one this winter!
- Afternoon Tea: It doesn’t get much classier than this ladies. Sandwiches with the crusts cut off, white glove service, and a pot of tea. You can read more about my petition to bring afternoon tea to America here.
6. The Beatles: I think this one’s a given. Amazing.
- Pip, Pip, Cheerio: The accents. I can’t.
- Regal Rules for Girls: A great read by Jerramy Fine - Her journey to find an English Prince and marry him. She’s a girl after my own heart. Read the full review here.
- Every cute actor, ever: Hugh Grant, Christian Bale, Colin Firth, Jude Law, Daniel Craig, Robert Pattinson… I could go on for days.
- The Royals… When in doubt, channel your inner Duchess. So excited to watch Kate and Wills
chase baby George around Kensington Palace.
Limiting this list to ten was really hard. So many great things have come out of England… even the good old USA if you want to get technical. If you ever need a dose of royalty, or a good laugh, stop on by Keep Calm and Blog On.
