As someone who has worked in the beauty industry for 9 years I am always so excited to see the new arrivals from all of our favorite brands. I love seeing what items brands cook up in their heads, what's going to be trending and what new technology is being touted.

Innovation is important in every industry, but especially beauty. Of course new shades, new formulas, and new products are always fun but when a brand releases something in a 'first of its kind' category, it's a special occasion. Innovation keeps the industry moving forward.

Years ago, I wrote an article for The EveryGirl about the most innovative beauty products of 2020, so I figured I'd bring it back this year on the blog.

It was a very innovative year for beauty in my opinion; there were a ton of new types of products that hit the market, some which capitalized on existing trends and others that were so new, my jaw was on the floor & I felt like we were living in the future.

Let's get into it!

Dyson Air Strait

I'm starting off strong with what I think is truly the most innovative beauty product maybe of all time. Yes, it's a straightening iron that takes your hair from wet to dry but it's not your wet to dry straightener of 2002. It's Dyson so you know it's good. I actually purchased this on Black Friday and have yet to do a review but I love it. It's life changing. When I was using it for the first time I kept saying 'How did they do this?!'

The Air Strait retails for $500 and can be used on wet or dry hair. There are not hot plates on this iron and it only goes up to 265 degrees so damage to your strands are at a minimum. It takes me about 3 passes to get my wet, curly hair to be pin straight... it's unheard of and something I never thought possible. It is truly the most innovative beauty product I've ever tried and I can't wait to do a full review for you soon.

Clarins Cryo-Flash Instant Lift Effect Mask

Ever since it's release this past summer, this Clarins mask was constantly sold out. I got my hands on it but haven't tried it yet because I'm a tad bit scared. It's supposed to mimic the effects of cryotherapy so it's ice cold on your face but gives your skin an instant lifted, sculpted look, as if you got a facial. I've seen videos of it and it's so interesting and truly unlike anything I've seen before so I'm very intrigued to try it out and review for you.

Skinny Confidential Le Spoon Body Sculptor

This is another tool I own that I owe you a review of... I'm very behind on my beauty reviews! Lauryn and the team at The Skinny Confidential are the must-have, must-watch brand for innvoative beauty tools in my opinion. Ever since their start, they've been releasing interesting and new tools to the market, even if it's just a twist on something you might already own like an ice roller. However, they released the Le Spoon a few months back and it's so interesting. It's a body sculptor that can be used almost like a lymphatic drainage massage. You're supposed to glide the tool up and down your body to decrease inflammation, improve circulation, and boost collagen production. It feels incredible on the body and I don't think there is much on the market like it.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Lip Oil

I know this sounds insane...how is a lip oil innovative? It's not really, especially in the year 2023/2024 when everyone has a lip oil and it's one of the most trending beauty products of the moment... but this one is. Rare Beauty released their Soft Pinch Lip Oils in early 2023 and I picked one up in the shade 'Hope' which is a nude mauve shade. I was expecting it to be a traditional lip oil, glossy and hydrating, but what I received was very different but not in a bad way. The Soft Pinch Lip Oil is a gel to oil formula that leaves your lips with a stain, which is so interesting. It's not a traditional oil, gloss or stain -- it's a hybrid of the three and I love that! I would love a more neutral shade, like Delight so I could wear it more because Hope is just not my vibe.

What beauty products did you find innovative in 2023?
xoxo
