I love a good handbag deal. I love the deal even more when it's a classic handbag silhouette that I've been lusting after for years. That's exactly what we're going to talk about today.
The Prada Galleria has always been on my radar; I don't know where I first saw it but it was a bag that was always in the back of my mind. I loved how simple it was, how classic and elegant it looked, and how versatile it seemed to be. The fact that it came in so many different sizes, materials, and colors was just an added bonus.
I knew one day I'd add the bag to my collection and that day came two years ago when I purchased on from Fashionphile. I had been in the market for a new handbag (but realistically, when am I not looking for a new bag?) and decided that this was the year I got the Prada. I knew that I wanted the smaller one because I wanted to be able to use it daily instead of just as a work bag.
With that decision made, I began searching through eBay, Rebag, Fashionphile and any other preloved site I could think of. The Prada Galleria, as beautiful as it is, does not hold it's value so you are able to find incredibly good deals on excellent condition bags.
Finally, I found this patent leather, pink bag on Fashionphile for under $900 and it was in perfect condition. There might have been a few scratches on it, and the strap was a little worn but it was fine and well worth the money.
The actual name of the bag I bought is the Prada Saffiano Vernice Mini Galleria Double Zip Tote in Orchidea, and it is stunning. It is without a doubt one of my favorite and most worn bags in my collection.
The Fabric
This is the only patent leather bag I have in my collection and I love it for that reason. Patent is not something I've lusted after but it does elevate any outfit. It's a little more special than a regular leather handbag and it allows me to wear it to dressier occasions like a bridal shower. However, because of the pink color, I do think that allows me to wear it more casually as well. It's not like a black or white patent leather handbag that looks out of place during the daytime; because the pink and patent blend so well together and aren't too shiny, there's a casual nature to the bag too. This is random but something that has been top of mind for me lately since it rains every weekend in New York, but this is also a great rain bag since the water just slides right off of it.
The Size
This is the perfect size bag for anytime, any occasion and any outfit. The base is 10.5 inches, heigh is 6.75, and is just 4.25 inches wide. It comes with an adjustable shoulder strap to make the bag crossbody or a shoulder bag, and it has two top handles for easy carrying.
What Fits
The bag has two zip compartments in the front and back of the bag, and then a wider middle compartment with another zip compartment. For a small bag, it's quite roomy and I can fit everything I need for the day inside; wallets, keys, hand sanitizer, hand cream, medications, and more. The only thing that doesn't really fit are my Stoney Clover pouches. The mini pouch is what I would usually take in a bag this small but it sticks out the top and isn't really worth it, so I just throw everything inside.
I've used the Prada Galleria in Target, in the grocery store, to go to dinner with friends, on Christmas, and to weddings. It's the most versatile and easy to style bag in my collection and I love it so much. I would love another one in a different size and color just to add some dimension to my handbag collection.
