When I found out that Tinx, my favorite influencer, was releasing a book I was over the moon excited. I immediately preordered "The Shift" and started checking NetGalley and Edelweiss obsessively for an ARC. Thankfully, I got one from Edelweiss because there was no way I was going to be able to wait 6+ months for a book I was this excited about.

I gobbled the book up in two days and the only con is that I wish I had this book in my twenties, when I was going through a hard time with dating. It will obviously come in handy when I date in my 30s but I'm just not in the right headspace for dating at the moment...

However, I loved the book and it was rich with advice that Tinx regularly dishes out but in a great long form context, and all in one place.

Let's get into the review!

Publisher's Summary

It’s time to get laser focused on what makes us feel happy and fulfilled. Lifestyle creator, advice expert, and podcast host Tinx wants to take your hand and guide you to a new way of thinking about life, love, happiness, and friendships—where dating evolves into era of self-discovery and not just a means to an end, sharing wisdom becomes a collective power, and chaos turns into a source of creativity. Making small but mighty shifts in thinking can be a tool for personal growth that fuels you instead of fatigues you. The point is to know yourself, discover what you fulfills you, and have fun along the way.

In
The Shift
, Tinx collects all her revolutionary theories and hilarious personal anecdotes in one place, presenting you with a guide to simple mindset shifts that will completely change the way you approach decision making and relationships.

Through her own stories, from the good to the bad, Tinx will help you better understand how to step into your power and own self-worth. Some say you cannot love another before you learn to love yourself: Tinx will teach you how to do both at the same time. And she’ll do it while making you laugh out loud.

My Thoughts

At her core, Tinx is a writer so I knew the book was going to be well though out and put together, but I wasn't expecting it to sound exactly like her own voice. It was like I could hear her saying the words she wrote out loud and it was a very cool experience.

Tinx has the best advice for everything in life, especially guys and dating, but also how to take your power back in dating. Most of the book focused on dating with the last few chapters all about self improvement as a whole.

The basis for the book was genius - how can you shift your perspective and your attitude. Instead of asking 'does he like me?' you need to shift your way of thinking to be 'do I like him?' and that is very powerful.

The book goes in depth on all of Tinx's best theories and tidbits of advice, such as box theory, reverse box theory, scarcity mindset and everything she talks about on social media and her podcast.

This is the kind of book that I feel every woman she read at least once; it's a handbook for life and really makes you think about how you're living, how you're thinking and how you're going after what you want.

If you're someone who has never heard of Tinx and don't know what to expect from her, I think this is the perfect thing to start with. It allows you to get to know her, her content and her way of thinking in an indepth way that social media sometimes doesn't allow for.

The Shift is incredible, it's helpful and it's a fun, easy read! I highly recommend.
