All year round my skin is drier than a desert. It doesn't matter how much water I drink, or what products I use on my face or in my house, my skin is always thirsty for more. I suffer from eczema and have very sensitive skin so I'm wary of a lot of the items I put on my face, especially if it's going near my eye area because that is the most sensitive.

I've tried a lot of different products over the years and found that thick, fragrance-free moisturizers that are marketed toward sensitive skin and repairing the skin's natural barrier work really well for me. This stands all year round, not just in the winter months when the air is dry and my skin needs some extra TLC.

That's why, when I saw Glossier was going to put out a new moisturizer called "After Baume" and it was marketed toward people like me, I was instantly sold. There was not a doubt in my mind that I was going to fall in love with this moisturizer and I was right.

Glossier has had its fair share of scandals over the years but I am still a loyal customer because there are a few products that I cannot be without and now After Baume is one of them.

What Is After Baume?

This moisturizer was released at the end of February and I have been using it religiously ever since. I use it almost daily and I'm nearly finished with my first tub but I don't even care.

After Baume is described as a moisture recovery cream that helps skin 'recover' from exposure to harsh elements like cold weather, acne treatments, over-exfoliation, or direct sunlight. It is supposed to restore the skin's natural nourishment after being damaged by those elements.

One thing that sold me on the moisturizer was that it was approved with the Seal of Acceptance by the National Eczema Association which means that it's vegan and non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores) and formulated without fragrance, dyes, or alcohols. It's totally safe for sensitive skin like mine and that approval by the Eczema association sealed the deal, no pun intended.

If that wasn't enough, the Glossier website says that After Baume moisturizes skin for 24 hours, and in a clinical trial, users said that hydration was instantly increased by 171%. As someone who works in beauty marketing, to be able to use those statistics is a huge deal and it means the product really does work. You can't just throw claims around like that without solid evidence.

How Does It Feel?

After Baume is described by Glossier as 'a puffer jacket for your skin' so I assumed it would be thick and hydrating but I don't know if I was expecting *this*. I don't think I have ever had a moisturizer so thick and luscious. It's the most satisfying texture on the planet and I am addicted.

You need the tiniest bit to cover your entire face and it instantly makes your complexion feel more nourished, less tight, and really hydrated. You can use it morning and night, and sometimes I will use it in my morning routine if my skin is particularly dry.

As soon as I apply it to my face, it's like heaven, like an angel anointed me with the holiest hydrating water.

What Does it Do For My Skin?

Like I said, my skin is very sensitive and dry so since it is Glossier's thickest, most emolument moisturizer ever (and probably one of the most nourishing, thick creams I've ever used), it keeps my skin in tip-top shape.

I apply it once at night, sometimes in tandem with an entire nightly routine consisting of retinol, AHA serums, or other hydrating products... or I just use it on its own because I'm lazy or feel like my skin doesn't need anything but hydration. I wake up in the morning with plump, bouncy, and still hydrated skin. The cream is so thick that I can still feel it on my skin when I wake up.

My eczema flares up on my eyelids and under-eye area but occasionally I will get a patch or two on my face. Since using this, I haven't dealt with anything like that... and haven't had flare-ups on my under eyes (I don't apply this moisturizer directly under my eyes and definitely not on my eyelids) so I think it's definitely helping in that area.

*It can even be used for knees, elbows, and other notoriously dry areas though I haven't tried it there yet.

Who Should Use After Baume?

If you are someone who struggles with eczema, or sensitive or dry skin, you should definitely pick this moisturizer up. I am positive that you and your skin will love it. If you are someone who needs a new moisturizer and would like something on the thick side, or someone who does a lot of facial peels or acne treatments, this is the moisturizer for you.

If you are a nurse, doctor, or anyone else who has to wear a mask more frequently than the general population, you need this! It will save your skin.

I cannot say enough good things about the Glossier After Baume. It has changed my life in all the ways a moisturizer could and it is without a doubt, my desert island product. I will never be without it!

Have you tried the After Baume? Would you try it?
