Last summer a new show debuted on Freeform called 'The Bold Type'. It seemed like it would be a mix between The Devil Wears Prada, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Sex and the City. (Whether that statement is true or false, we'll get into it)

I was excited while watching the previews because I love anything centered around a magazine. I was always so fascinated by the world of magazines and it was one of the reasons I went into journalism. I dreamed of working for Glamour or Cosmo but that dream has yet to come true.

Either way, I loved to live vicariously through all my favorite movies and tv shows centered around a fashion magazine.

I thought The Bold Type would be a corny take on the magazine world, and a little too 'Freeform' for my liking -- bad acting, not great storylines and just all around 'it's so bad it's good' vibe.

Well, after the first episode I had tears in my eyes and I usually end up crying at the end of every episode because it is one of the most powerful tv shows on television right now.

Sutton, Jane, and Kat are the main characters who work at Scarlett Magazine with Jacqueline (an angel like Miranda Priestley at the helm). They're best friends, living out their dreams of working at the top fashion magazine in New York but yet there are troubles around every corner.

From love to life to career to family and friends, The Bold Type covers everything. They've dealt with sexual assault (in one of the most bone-chilling moments ever), and social topics such as LGBT, racism, slut shaming, and everything in between. They've shown what it's like for a magazine to go through the digital world, what it means when you're unsure of yourself and your career path, and what it really means to be a 20 something trying to make it in the world.

However, no matter the issue at hand, Sutton, Jane and Kat have each other's backs and have unconditional love for each other. The female empowerment that I see in every single episode astounds me and it truly is the most inspiring hour of my week.

If you follow me on Twitter you'll see that Tuesday at 9 PM I tweet something along the lines of "If you're not watching The Bold Type you're not living life' and I mean every word.

The Bold Type is one of the best shows on television. It's a little corny at times but the acting is good, the setting is good, the script is good -- everything about it is good but it's the kind of show we need right now. It's light-hearted while still tackling the issues at hand and it makes me feel good.

Whenever the show is over I am so inspired to take on the world. I feel like I can conquer anything after watching that one hour of television and to me, that's all I need to give a show my seal of approval or to put it in the top 5-10 category of favorite TV shows ever.

TV doesn't move me the way it used too; I don't get the same feeling I do when I used to watch Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, or Sex and the City.

The Bold Type finally gives me that feeling again and it is so inspiring. It's like reading the best self-help book out there, plus it's wildly entertaining.

Please go watch The Bold Type from the beginning and let it instill you with the inspiration and empowerment everyone deserves.

Have you watched The Bold Type? What are your thoughts?
xoxo
