Happy Monday! Happy Thanksgiving week! I really need this mini break, and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all time so I am super excited. It's also one week till my 23rd birthday -- how exciting! (just a tad bit of sarcasm)

Sorry for disappearing on the blog last week-- I forgot to write a post on Wednesday night and then Thursday night I was super stressed out and exhausted. I also got home from work very late because I was at Teen Vogue at a focus group!

Yes, TEEN VOGUE. In the CondeNast section of 1 World Trade Center. It was so surreal, so amazing, and a dream come true. To be in that building, in that office, I never imagined it in my wildest dreams.

I took a survey and was invited to the offices to talk about fashion and accessories. It was myself and 9 other girls who were in college. We talked, discussed, laughed, ate macaroons and drank sparkling water. We also got a free Movado Bold watch to thank us for participating.

Um... is this my life? I am so thankful for all the fun and cool things I get to do!

Anyways, here is the real purpose of this post... Manicure Monday.

I've been seriously slacking on my fall/winter nail polish collection. I never have the colors I'm in the mood for so I think I'll buy a few more while I still can. I did however buy a new color from the Essie Winter 2015 Collection.

It's not the color I usually go for in the winter because it's a light lavender color and I feel like that is more of a spring color. I was hesitant to buy it but then I thought about it and realized it's a crisp, chill lavender which reminds me of snow and cool, winter air.

Well, I was right.

This particular Essie formula is a dream! It's super opaque, very smooth and easy to apply. I used it with me Essie Gel Setter top coat and I swear, the polish was even shiner and didn't budge for 5 days. Even then, the chipping was very minimal.

Oh, the color is called "Virgin Snow" which I think is the perfect name to describe it because it's such a pure, winter shade. I felt so cozy and sophisticated wearing it. As the weather gets colder, this is definitely going to be my go-to shade!

What is on your nails this Manicure Monday?

After my incredible weekend at Her Conference (I can't promise that I'll stop talking about it, it was just so amazing), I've been on a sick magazine kick.

I've always loved magazines, even when I was a little kid, whenever I went to the drug store, I never left without a magazine whether it was CosmoGirl, Teen People, TigerBeat, or PopStar. I loved flipping through the glossy pages, seeing the celebrities, the beauty and fashion tips, I loved everything about those magazines.

Now that I'm older, I have not changed one bit. With my passion for journalism, I think the obsession with magazines has only gotten worst. I look at them differently, I pay more attention and appreciate them more. Loving magazines all my life contributed to the fact that I want to be a magazine journalist, that's what I aspire to be.

If you don't know, the September issues of magazines are the biggest ones yet; it's right before fall begins so they are filled with fall fashions and trends; September issues are the heaviest magazines and have the most talked about celebrities on the covers.

This month's Vogue is a whopping 665 pages! That is a heavy book but so well worth it.

After hearing so many people talk about magazines at Her Conference, I decided to make the investment of buying every fashion magazine every month, or possibly subscribing to more than I usually do.

While flipping through the September issue of Teen Vogue, I decided that I'll start a new feature on the blog where I profile each month of each magazine (maybe not ALL the magazines but definitely my favorites).

So shall we start with Teen Vogue?

Teen Vogue was hefty this month, it was a decent size with a ton of ads but that's fine. I love how sophisticated Teen Vogue is even while catering to a younger demographic. It really is VOGUE for teens.

The September issue featured the British boys who lost the X Factor but won the world, my favorites, my heart, One Direction. I have an odd obsession with boy-bands, always have, always will, even when I'm 80 years old. I was SO excited to see them on the cover, less than a year after they were featured on the December/January issue of Teen Vogue.

The article on One Direction was really candid, you got a nice insight into who these boys truly are. They aren't just pretty faces with nice voices on a stage somewhere. They are good boys with a little edge. They are NOT cookie cutter, which is one the reasons I love them, but they are good hearted, down to earth people and Dana Matthews, the reporter who followed 1D to Miami to get the interview captured that wonderfully.

"Their spirit is what makes them so successful" Morgan Spurlock, the director of the boy's upcoming movie, "This Is Us" says and I think that is a perfect definition of One Direction.

The photographs are beautiful; simple and edgy as the boys are dressed in a variety of all black ensembles. They look like men, not boys.

I cannot begin to explain how well written the article is, you'll have to pick up TV on the newsstand for yourself!

My other favorite parts of the September Teen Vogue?:

There was a feature on AnnaSophia Robb who is gearing up for the second season of the Carrie Diaries. It was short but very sweet and wonderfully written. I'm sure that I'll keep saying these articles are wonderfully written because it's Teen Vogue, of course the articles are great! But I think the article on Robb captured her young spirit. She was carefree but mature, it was refreshing to see a young celebrity like that, just like any other person who is slipping into Carrie Bradshaw's Manolos.

There was an incredible personal essay written by model Elettra Wiedemann where she explained her struggles with scoliosis, a spine deformation where the spin curves into an S or C shape. It can be very damaging and Elettra had to wear a brace for years, 23 hours a day. It was inspiring to see someone so young go through something so difficult but not let it destroy them.

"Selfie Control" was a great article on the selfie nature of our generations and generations younger than us. Why do we love taking selfies to post on social media? What is the appeal of pressing the front facing camera and snapping a picture? It's all explained in the article; I thought that was a great idea for a feature.

I've taken a liking to really reading the Letter From the Editor in every magazine I open. This is the person responsible for the content you are appreciating and they are taking the time out to speak to you. I think the Letter from the Editor is one of my favorite parts of any magazine and Amy Astley's letter in this issue is nothing short of perfect.

Last but not least, TV featured an amazing section on all the fall trends. That'll be an entire separate post because I want to dive more into what's hot this fall. TV breaks it down into 10 hot items that everyone should have this season, the layout of the section is great and messy but organized. That's how Teen Vogue is, there are high end pictures everywhere and it looks messy but at the same time, looks so put together.

I give the September issue of Teen Vogue a 9/10 on the ratings scale. I really loved all the articles, the pictures were phenomenal and I just really enjoyed it. I didn't rate it as a 10 because nothing in life is perfect and there's always room for improvement, also, there were A LOT of ads which bothered me but that's magazines for ya!

Do you like these profiles? Do you want me to continue doing them? Let me know in the comments :)

I hope you enjoyed my recap of Saturday's part of the Her Campus Her Conference. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all week so here's what went down on Sunday's portion of Her Conference.

This time I was not alone in my journey; I dragged along my best friend, Jacqueline so I would have someone to sit with and enjoy the conference.

We got there earlier than I did on Saturday, registered, got breakfast, took some pictures, shopped the BCBG sale and hung around. It was pretty much the same thing as Saturday expect for different speakers and some different panels.

The morning Keynote speaker was Chandra Turner, the founder of Ed2010.com and the executive editor of Parents Magazine. I religiously rely on Ed2010 for finding internships are magazines, whether they be big or small corporations so I was super stoked that she was the speaker.

Chandra Turner

Chandra was hysterically funny; she was witty and charming who spoke with great anecdotes. Most importantly, Chandra was incredibly helpful and inspirational. She is one of the smartest people I've ever heard speak and offered great advice that made me both excited, nervous, and content. Feeling all those different emotions made me realize how incredible the information she was offering was.

Chandra's jokingly advice to us

My favorite piece of advice (which there will be a full post on later on) is that in Journalism, you cannot apply for a job until you are ready to accept it. That means waiting until the last minute before graduation to start applying. When a magazine has an opening, they will fill it immediately. They aren't going to wait for you.

In that same breath, enjoy senior year! There is no point in worrying about the future when the future isn't going to wait for you. Hearing someone as intelligent and successful as Chandra telling me to enjoy myself and not be so focused on the future really reassured me that I can lay back and be a college student.

For the next panel, I headed over to "How To Make Your Blog a Powerhouse". This was an incredibly helpful workshop with successful bloggers, including Lindsay Tigar of Confessions of a Love Addict, who is a fellow Her Campus Blogger Network member.

They gave great advice on how to build up your blog, stay true to yourself, and even make a career out of. It was wonderful to hear real life advice on people who have aspirations like mine. It was also comforting to know that blogging is the future and that I'm doing something right.

Journalism Jobs Later On Panel

After this panel, I headed over to "Journalism Jobs Later On" which was all about how to climb the ladder of the journalism world and where the entry level positions could take you. I will admit, this was more intimating than the editorial assistant panel because these panelists were older, more experienced, more successful, and had a firm grip on what they were doing. It was still inspirational and all the panelists, who were from places such as Redbook and the NY Daily News, offered advice that I will remember forever.

Jason Wagenheim

With half the day over, me and Jacqueline headed into lunch which was sponsored by Chiptole and then to the lunchtime keynote who was Jason Wagenheim, the publisher of Teen Vogue. My goodness, this was my favorite keynote. He was super funny, really smart, and gave it to us straight. He knew what he was talking about and once again, gave wonderful advice.

The last panel block of the day was focused on marketing yourself better in different ways; there were workshops on resume and cover-letting writing, social media tips, and the panel I went too, "How to Ace Your Interview".

I have a confession; I have never been on an actual interview. Phone and Skype interviews, yes, but an actual in person interview is something I have yet to experience. With my anxiety, the thought of an interview makes me go into panic mode so I thought that this was the best workshop for me.

I actually learned a lot and felt better when leaving there. We learned how to answer specific types of questions, what the most common types of questions were and what to do when you can't think on your feet. It was great!

Me and Elana

At the end of the day there was a networking and career fair where I just so happened to stumble upon my amazing supervisor at Levo and fellow Phi Sig, Elana. I even spoke to a few girls about Levo League and why they should apply for their internship program and check out the site, which was super exciting!

At the fair, the lovely HerCampus women gave out door prizes, which I WON! I got this fabulous little tribal styled pouch. I love winning things because it doesn't happen to me often so I was pleasantly surprised.

With that the weekend was over and I was nonetheless, exhausted, but a little upset that this great experience had come to an end.

I felt so official with my name badge

All the speakers at the conference had a great grasp on what it takes to be successful in the journalism industry. That's why I was so thankful that I attended; I was surrounded by people who had the same dreams as me and understood my passion. I had so many questions about the industry that were really answered after listening to all the speakers.

This was definitely one of my favorite parts of the summer before my senior year. Next year, if you have the chance, try and make the effort to come to NYC and attend the Her Conference, you will not regret it!

PS. I took a ridiculous amount of notes during the conference so I will be rounding the up and doing little advice posts on what I learned so look out for them!

A few months ago, Royally Pink became part of the HerCampus Blogger Network and since then, it has been an incredible journey.

Royally Pink has grown more than I could've ever imagined and I met an incredible group of ladies who are fabulous, talented, and so supportive of each other! It's such an honor to be part of this network, and it's so much fun!

HerCampus, if you didn't know, is an online magazine for young college women, talking about everything your college heart could desire. Seriously, they talk about everything; even the stuff you don't want to talk about, which is so refreshing to see!

HerCampus, being the awesome company they are, are hosting the Intercollegiate Blog Conference (which I will have the amazing experience of attending) on July 27th and 28th in NYC.

The conference will have speakers from Teen Vogue, Glamour, Seventeen, The Huffington Post, Random House, my beloved Levo League, and SO MANY MORE.

The conference is being sponsored by Chiptole, BCBGeneration, and many others! All attendees will receive awesome gift-bags, free lunch from Chiptole, a BCBG sample sale, free manicures and a braid bar.

I am so insanely excited for this conference it should be illegal! It's going to be an incredible experience and I can't wait!
