I feel like I've been talking a lot about being organized but with this new semester coming up, it's a struggle. I've been back at school for not even two days and I'm already in over my head.

Between unpacking, my first shift of work, meetings, and sorority events, I am swimming in chaos.

Classes haven't even started yet and I already have homework in one of my classes. I have to take 100 original pictures for my photography class due Thursday. I am so not ready for this.

As previously stated, I have a lot going on this semester and I'm trying this new thing where I don't plan everything out and live a little more than I have been so it's all new to me.

Here's a few tips that I've been trying to use to get myself together.

First thing first, calm down. I know it's easier said than done but the most important thing to staying organized and positive is to remain calm. I go from 0-60 within seconds when I have a thousand things on my plate. You just need to take a breath, sit down for a minute, and gather your thoughts. It's the only thing that is going to help you and keep your motivation up.

Second, take a little while to yourself and your friends. Getting back to school is so exciting and I am so thrilled to see my friends that it just over takes me. Within all the madness, I usually forget about that and I get straight into unpacking. Leave your suitcases and tote bags for a minute and go reconnect with your friends that you haven't seen in a month, your stuff will still be there when you get back.

After you see your friends, unpack everything. My huge thing is getting all my belongings back into their place. After that is done, my mind is a lot more free to focus on everything else. You will feel a lot better once you unpack.

Then it's all smooth sailing; just make a list of everything you have to do and start crossing things off. Get your notebooks together, look online at your classes so you're prepared for class, and make a schedule of the things you need to get done throughout the week.

With the sorority, interning, and everything else going on, it's important for me to make my trusty lists and schedules of when everything is. My planner is my life saver in this first week of school.

It's going to take a little bit to get adjusted to school again after being at home for so long. The thoughts of meetings and classes and being on your own again are a little hard to swallow but within the first few days, you'll be back at your game.

As for staying positive, just keep your head high, take deep breaths, and have fun! Do the best you can with what you have; it's just college, it isn't going to bite you! Try not to stress so much because once things get really busy, it's easy to forget about everything positive in your life and focus on the negative.

Make that your semester resolution, don't beat yourself up if you get a C on a paper, just take in strides and do better next time. Take breaks in between studying and don't ride yourself too hard, it will bring nothing but negative energy.

What I plan on doing is making a list of goals for the semester, both school wise, professionally, and socially. It might not help my "un-planning" that I'm trying to work on but it might clear your head with everything that is floating around in there. My mind is my worst enemy so when I write everything down, it helps a lot.

I think this quote really sums up how I feel about the beginning of school and school in general. Just do what you have to do, it'll all be okay.

The most important thing to remember is to have fun! If you're away at college, these days don't last forever so be a little irresponsible sometimes because you won't always have your friends living across the hall from you or have the chance to go out on a Tuesday night, just because you can. Enjoy these days because they don't last forever!

Stay positive, the rest will come easy :)
