I've mentioned before about how my sorority has changed my life and how much I love it. I've also talked about the incredible start up Levo League that is there to help young women connect with others and give the best career advice around!

Those two loves of mine have mixed together in the form of Levo League's sorority articles, written by a fellow sister of mine, Elana Lyn Gross.

Elana has written articles about the benefits of greek life before, one of them in which I was featured in, and her most recent one, "Secrets About Sororities" really hit home for me.

In the article, Elana talks about her own sorority story and how she judged sororities based on the stereotypes that we all think of: air head girls who party too much and have bad reputations. We think of catty, mean girls who don't care about anyone but themselves.

That is so not true. The sorority women I know, my own sisters and others, are strong, intelligent, dedicated women with hearts of gold and would do anything for anyone. My sorority and most sororities are not filled with "air heads".

Sorority women take pride in their philanthropies and giving back to the community. We care about others and the people around us.

We are leaders, followers, friends, sisters.

A sorority is so much more than parties and friendships--it's about taking pride in the values that the founding sisters of your organization put in place. It's about living with your letters and showing people that you are strong and powerful.

My sorority has made me the person I am today; it has completely changed my life for the better. I will always be grateful to the sisterhood I found in Phi Sigma Sigma.

Elana's article is such a great example of what a sorority is and how it's not what the movies show you.

If you have any questions about sororities, never hesitate to ask me! My sorority is my favorite thing to talk about so I would be more than happy too :)

  1. I couldn't agree more. I'm in a sorority and love every minute. Even as an alum it's great.
